FACULTY AND STAFFDURING A BOMB THREAT

NOTIFICATION AND HANDLING PROCEDURES

Telephone, electronic or written threats must be taken seriously!

1. Phone: Use the N.J. State Police Bomb Threat Checklist.

2. Letter: Save the letter and envelope and limit handling.

3. E-Mail: Print out and save the e-mail.

4. Graffiti: Evacuate and secure the immediate area.

5. Rumor: Write down what was heard and report it to

administration.

Handling Procedures for All Staff

Fire Drills vs. Bomb Threat Evac.

Fire Drill Bomb ThreatWindows and doors are closed

Open windows and doors

Turn Lights OFF Leave lights ONNo search All rooms searchedExit according to room chart

Use fire drill chart, then proceed to designated Steinert area

EVACUATION PROCEDURES

F. Exit the room with the class. Ensure that no one is left behind.

G. DO NOT TOUCH THE LIGHT SWITCH.H. Leave doors and windows open.I. Leave the Green card next to the door in the

hallway to show that the room has been searched.J. Lead the class out of the building to the

designated assembly area.K.Take attendance.L. Notify administration that all students are

accounted for.

When Emergency First Responders Arrive…

• Emergency personnel will assume command and control of the situation.

• Keep your class together and organized.

• Do not allow any one to go back into the building.

• A parent pick-up area will be set up if needed.

• Only re-enter the building when administration gives the order.
