We provide specialist rehabilitation for people in theearly stages of recovery from an acquired braininjury. In separate accommodation, we also provideresidential care for individuals with progressiveneurological conditions such as Parkinson's Disease.Our service is for individuals who are medically stablewith neurological difficulties arising from a range ofconditions including:

The team at Murdostoun are also experienced inmanaging associated needs, such as specialistspasticity management, PEG feeds, tracheostomy careand skin integrity problems.

We provide cognitive rehabilitation, functionalretraining and Sensory Modality Assessment andRehabilitation Technique (SMART) assessment ifrequired.

Located in the heart of the Scottish countryside, wehave two separate buildings on our campus: a braininjury rehabilitation centre and a neurological carecentre.

Overview

Brain Injury Rehabilitation CentreWe provide individualised assessment and intensiverehabilitation to help people recover from a braininjury. At all times we work to achieve the bestpossible outcomes in terms of independence andquality of life.

We most commonly assess and admit patients whoare in the very early stages of recovery from a braininjury. These patients are normally admitted from

a NHS hospital. We also assess and treat people whohave been living with a brain injury for some time, butdue to a change in their situation would benefit fromsome treatment.

We provide long-term care and respite care forindividuals with a neurological condition. We offer twoservices:

Our slow stream service is for individuals who needmore time to practise new skills before moving backhome or into the community. They may or may nothave undertaken some specialist rehabilitation first.Our complex disability service is for individuals withcomplex problems associated with their conditionand who can no longer be looked after easily athome.
