Deering Estate

Native Flags is exhibited at Miami-Dade Park's Deering Estate at Cutler, where visitors can

purchase their green flag and see an exhibit of the 12 native trees featured for South Florida.

North Pole

Xavier Cortada, Native Flags (at the North Pole), 2008.

Reforestation helps prevent the polar regions from melting:

Every tree planted helps reduce greenhouse gases by capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and releasing oxygen.

1. Plant a native tree and

flag in your yard and

state:

I hereby reclaim this

land for nature.

2. Take a picture and

upload it to our website:

www.nativeflags.org

3. Encourage

neighbors to do the

same.

Xavier Cortada, Native Flags, 2007.

The project's conspicuous green flags serve as a catalyst for conversations with neighbors, who will be encouraged to join the effort and help rebuild their native tree canopy one yard at a time.

Xavier Cortada, Native Flags, 2007.

Ideally, as they watch each tree grow, their interest in protecting the environment will also grow.
