National Junior Angus Contests PA Junior Angus Guide

There are a variety of contests that junior Angus members can enter for Nationals. Some contests you submit prior to nationals while others will be occurring at Nationals. You can also participate as an individual or with a team, depending on the contest. This guide gives you a brief summary of what each contest entails, but you should always reference the contest information only at www.angus.org/njaa. Select contests and this is the screen that will appear:

All the contest information will appear on this page. You will need to select Contest Rules to see the specific requirements.

Do you see the red arrow on the screen shot on the previous page? This is how you submit some of your contest information. Currently, the link to the online contest portal is not updated as it reflects the 2019 contests. Look for more information about contest submission later on. Take note that to submit your contest entries, you need to have an AAA (American Angus Association) Login. Do not wait to obtain this prior to submission. If you currently do not have a login, sign up now so that you have it completed. In the meantime, you can work on your contest entries. Here’s how you get an AAA login:

1) Click on Login on the www.angus.org website

2) This screen will appear. Click on Sign me Up! You’ll need to follow the directions from there. Be sure to save your Login and Password when completed. I did this years ago and can’t recall the steps, but I believe it resulted in me receiving an email from the American Angus Association with my username and password.

Below are brief descriptions of the contests available:

All-American Certified Angus Beef Cook-off

This is a popular contest at Nationals. We hope to have 3-4 teams participating this year. This

contest requires parent involvement, but the members are expected to do most of the cooking.

This contest is also known as the “mom’s contest” so that gives you an idea about how this

works. Each team will create a small skit (less than 5 minutes) and cook a CAB recipe on

contest day. You will have the support of the entire state on Cookoff Day with all hands on

deck to assist for any last minute needs. The instructions below are old, but basically give you

an idea about this contest.
