This was a year of introducing change, consolidating strengths and making the new staffing structure, introduced in 2010/11, work effectively.

After a successful year with the launch of British Art Show 7, featuring seminal artists like Christian Marclay, the challenge was on in order to sustain and grow momentum.

EXECUTIVE OFFICER REPORT

CEO

At NAE I believe we should ‘think and deliver the new’ and in 2011/12 there were many new introductions including new staff, board members, programmes and partnerships. It was also a year of consolidation and the settling in of a refined team structure. We continued to introduce novel strands and activities, hosting, incubating and growing a successful artistic programme and introduced a strong framework for organisational development and change.

Theyearincludedmanyhighlights;thepurchaseofFloatingCoffinsbyTATEandourprojectCultureCloudreceivingpilotfundingfromNESTA,anindependentUK-basedcharitywithamissiontohelppeopleandorganisationsbringgreatideastolife,ACE(ArtsCouncilEngland)andAHRC(ArtsandHumanitiesResearchCouncil).ThisremindedmeofhowfarwehadtravelledasanorganisationbutalsoasaphysicalspacemorphingfromastronggrassrootshistoryintoNewArtExchange,acontemporarycreativeinstigator.
