The human mind is a complexorganism. Some people who areof an attentive and observativenature catch the right messagesfrom the environment and thuscreate a bright future for them-selves. But many are inattentivewhen something is directly told ortaught. Such people can be super-attentive if they see someone elselistening or doing. For examplewhen two people are talking thethird person gets keenly interest-ed and envelops a sharp ear.
When something is tolddirectly to a person one has atendency to forget and neglect. This means that the mind doesnot like to be told things directly. The same principle can apply tothe behavior of a human mindwhen thinking about God and reli-gion. People are unmindful ofmany facts of life unless they aretaught in the name of God andreligion. People seem to have anatural love for the unseen and acareless attitude for that which isnext to them. By thinking aboutGod people are able to focustheir attention and energy betteron the realities of life. The humanmind sometimes behaves like hotair which only knows how torise. As hot air becomes lightsimilarly the human mind
becomes light when it rises abovethe thoughts of matter. The mindis filled with more energy when itis attracted towards the High andunseen. Thinking about Godmakes the mind light. Thoughtsabout food, clothes and enjoy-ment are like paperweights onhuman consciousness which tiethe mind with earthly desires.
The question arises as towhether thinking about God isescaping from realities. The truthis that by thinking about God themind becomes super-light anddraws more energy from theDivine unseen sources. The realnature of man is basically Divineand is without a physical exis-tence. The physical body weights
heavy on the mind. The mind isDivine and super-light in nature. The soul is weightless.
Thinking about God remindsone about the imminent existenceof the soul in the Divine land. This helps overcome physical limi-tations. The conditioning of think-ing starts from the time of birthand normally doesn't allow one tothink that one may have an exis-tence-less existence. It is hard toput a whole-hearted trust in theconcept of the weightlessness ofthe physical existence. One willnot believe that one is timeless,problem-less and infinite.
When such is the case weneed to put the thought in ourconsciousness that our real exis-tence is timeless and space-less.We name this state of existenceGod. In short God is a symbolicname for that energy which is allcomprehensive, omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. Tocomprehend this Divine idea orenergy we need to give a nameand character.
The mind is a physical instru-ment and it wants to spell out allits human needs. Man wants togive a name, shape and attributesor virtues to all that he wants tocomprehend and thus creates aGodhead.

DO WE NEED TO BELIEVE IN GOD?
That Godhead becomes a friend, eternal companion and is within ourselves but we need an excuse for thinking about the supreme Divinity.Contemplation on God cuts an opening in ourhearts which lets the sweet nectar buried deep inthe bed of our consciousness, flow forth.
The moment one thinks that I am equal toGod one becomes self-conscious and commits thefolly of erecting a wall of ego between oneself andGod. When one thinks that he/she is God onebecomes selfish and self-centered and cuts off theDivine flow of energy. It makes one finite or limited.
So man needs a God, a Divine flow. It is veryappropriate that one chooses a symbol to ones lik-ing which can inspire one to bring out the Divinequalities that are stored within from the beginningof creation.
Besides, I see no harm in having a personalGod who will be my true friend and guide withoutinterfering in my physical routine. with truthful loving feelings.
