My Teaching Philosophy

I Am a Fisherman

I need to scout the scene, if there are no fish I’m not going to catch anything. I need to determine where the fish may be. What are their habits?

I need to prepare for my day out on the lake. Organization is key. I need proper materials that I can implement effectively. I cannot forget my tackle box filled with exciting lures and hooks.

It is essential that I check the weather to make sure fishing conditions are ideal. I need to ensure the temperature is not too hot or too cold. The water should not be choppy because that would make moving from one fishing spot to another more difficult.

When I know what fish I’m looking to catch and understand what they are feeding on, I can choose the right bait. It is essential for me to remember that different fish feed at different times of the day and on different bait.

It is important to use different fishing methods. I want to make sure I attract all types of fish.

Placement is imperative. I need to make sure I am adjusting the distance between my bobber and bait so that I can fish at different levels ensuring no fish gets left behind.

If I am unsure about anything I need to ask a fellow fisherman who has more experience for support and guidance.

Fishing requires a tremendous amount of patience. I may need to try several kinds of bait, different fishing techniques and various depths to get the fish hooked. I need to be persistent and never give up hope.

When I catch a fish I need to keep in mind that the big fish can be more of a challenge to get in the boat. I will need to spend more energy and time reeling this fish in. My fishing line needs to be stronger. I may even need a net to help get them in the boat.

Although smaller fish are easier to reel in, I don’t let that line go slack. I need to make sure to keep my finger on the line to gage the hit.

When I do catch a fish I will need to measure it using a variety of assessments.

After I catch my fish, I need to release them back into the waters where they can continue to develop and grow into the unique fish that they are meant to be.
