My Family

My Dad’s Side My dads family comes from 3 different parts of the

world .

Leo Rochkind“Grandpa Leo”

• Leo Rochkind is my one of my father’s grandparents. He was my great-grandfather.

• He was born in Canada.

• He came to the United States as a boy about my age and lived in Spokane, Washington.

• He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

• This is his dog tag.

Norbert Reinstein• My dad’s other

grandfather was born in Vienna, Austria.

• He and his family were forced to leave Austria because of the Holocaust.

• He was in a concentration camp where many people were killed.

• His parents were killed in the Holocaust.

• His story is on film at the Holocaust Museum.

• -My dad was born in Detroit, Michigan.

• -He lived in the city of Detroit until he was 11 years old.

• -He went to the University of Michigan.

• -He is a lawyer.

My Mom’s Side

• My mom’s family is from Castelvetere, Italy.

• The town still exists to this day.

George Bove• My mom’s dad and

my grandfather lived in New Mexico as a child.

• He fought in World War II and was injured during the war.

• He received several medals in the war, including the Purple Heart.

Karen Rockind

• My mom was born in Allen Park, Michigan.

• She is the youngest child in her family, just like me.

• She went to college at the University of Michigan in Dearborn.

• She is a hairdresser.

My Family History• I am very proud of my family history.

• My mom’s family is Italian and we are proud of our Italian heritage.

• My dad’s family is made of up Holocaust survivors.

• We are Jewish and celebrate all of the Jewish holidays.

• My grandfather and both of my great-grandfathers served in the U.S. military during World War II.

• I am proud of the contributions that my family made to this country.
