PDF of Fedco Manual

Installing Baseplate

For foundation requirements, see page 5 in the Fedco manual. If the base is installed in a container, be sure to fasten the base to the steel frame and not sheet metal.

Set the motor in place on the baseplate and install all of the bolts. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE BOLTS

Motor Installation Take a .003 inch shim and check

the motor for Soft Foot

If there is a gap in 1 of the 4 corners of the motor, insert shims until the gap is gone.

Motor Installation

After the motor has been properly shimmed, torque all of the bolts to

the required specification.

Clean off the rust inhibitor that is on the C face and shaft of the motor with any kind of degreaser.

Check Motor Shaft Rotation

Start the motor without the pump to check rotation. There are stickers on the pump shell that shows the correct direction and there is also a casted arrow on the motor adapter showing direction.

Check Fitting The Coupling Set the pump on the baseplate

and leave a large enough gap between the motor and pump to check fit the coupling.

Check the coupling to the motor shaft without the shaft key

Check Fitting The Coupling

Next check the pump shaft without the shaft key. The coupling should slide on to all of the shafts without binding.

Now check the coupling with the shaft keys

Check Fitting The Coupling

Do the same with the pump shaft.

If there are any issue with your coupling not fitting correctly please contact your Fedco representative

Pump Pre-alignment Install the alignment pins

Slide the pump up to the motor. Make sure that the bottom bracket does not come into contact with the base.

Pump Pre-alignment

Check the gap between the motor and pump shaft. The 2 shafts must not touch and there should be a ¼ or 6mm gap between them.

Use the feeler gauge to check the gap around the motor and motor adapter. Top, Bottom, Right and Left. This is also shown on page 7 in the manual.

Pump Pre-alignment

Evenly adjust the pump up or down, and bump the pump right or left until the gap is even all the way around the motor and motor adapter.

Pump Pre-alignment

Once the gap is even between the motor and motor adapter, tighten the bolts on the precision leveling foot securing it to the base.

The pump can now be moved forward to install the coupling.

Installing the Coupling

Apply Anti Seize to the C face and shaft of the motor.

Installing the Coupling Install the motor shaft key.

Slide the coupling on the shaft until the motor shaft is flush with the coupling hub.

Installing the Coupling

Apply Anti Seize to the set screw holes.

Install and torque the set screws in the coupling.

Final Assembly Apply Anti Seize in the coupling for shaft lubrication.

Rest the pump on the alignment pins.

Final Assembly

Apply Anti Seize to the pump.

Install the pump shaft key. Be sure that the round end of the key matches the round end of the slot in the pump shaft.

Final Assembly

Align the pump shaft key with the slot in the coupling.

Slide the pump forward until the motor adapter is full seated on the motor C face. If the pump will not slide forward check the alignment between the shaft key and coupling. If there is still an issue, contact your Fedco representative for help.

Final Assembly

Final check, adjust if needed.

Final check, adjust if needed.

Final Assembly Apply Anti Seize to all of the motor adapter bolts.

Install all the bolts and at this time the alignment pins can be removed.

Final Assembly After installing all the bolts, torque each bolt to 90 foot pounds in a star pattern.

Final Assembly Install the top bracket and then apply Anti Seize to the threaded area shown in the picture.

Final Assembly

Install the bracket nuts and tighten them evenly going side to side. The gap between the upper and lower half of the brackets around the pump should be close to even.

Final Assembly Install and torque the last 2 jam nuts. Check all 6 jam nuts to insure that they are all tight.

Final Assembly

Lower the bracket down to the base and install the bolts.

Final Assembly

Torque the bolts to the base and then torque the bracket bolts.

Final Assembly

Install Drain line

Final Assembly

After installing your motor's guard your alignment will be complete.
