    Miller-Cory Museum Plans‘Colonial Ice Cream Social’WESTFIELD – On Sunday, June

    13, guests at the Miller-Cory HouseMuseum in Westfield will be treatedto a “Colonial Ice Cream Social”following their tours of the farm-house.

    Ice cream, cookies and punch willbe available between 2 and 5 p.m.Admission to the event is $2 for adults,50 cents for students and free forchildren under age six. The museumis located at 614 Mountain Avenue.

    On Saturday, June 19, the museum

    will hold its annual Aunt Carrie’sSale on the grounds, with a rain dateof Saturday, June 26.

    Museum members and others havecontributed items for the sale. Afterthis event, the museum will be closedfor the summer. It will reopen onSunday, September 19.

    Trip Itineraries RevealedFor Scotch Plains Seniors

    FANWOOD – The Teen Group ofthe Fanwood Memorial Library willbegin a knitting group on Tuesday,June 15, with additional programsplanned for later this month. All willtake place at the library.

    Two activities are scheduled for

    Tuesday, June 29. A 45-minute yogaand relaxation class will be held at 2p.m. in the library’s Fanwood Room.The program will continue on July 6,13 and 20.

    Participants are advised to wearloose clothing and to bring their owntowel or mat and a water bottle. Theyare also urged to sign up in advance,as space is limited.

    A book discussion will be heldthat day from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Teenswill discuss the novels “Sloppy firsts”by Megan McCafferty and “BornConfused” by Tanuja Desai Hidier.Refreshments will be served.

    Each of the books was chosen bymembers of the Teen Group. “Sloppyfirsts” is the second book that groupmembers are reading for their “Jer-sey Books Summer” activity, duringwhich they are focusing on storiesset in the Garden State.

    The Teen Group meets at the library,located at North Avenue and TillotsonRoad, and is open to all teenagers. Avariety of activities is offered. Formore information, please call Annie orNancy at (908) 322-4377.

    SCOTCH PLAINS – The ScotchPlains Senior Citizen Advisory Com-mittee has announced the four subsi-dized trips it will provide for areaseniors later this year, all of whichwill take place on Wednesdays.

    A visit is planned for August 11 tothe Erie Trackside Manor in PortJervis, N.Y., with an entrée choice ofchicken, beef or haddock. A talentshow, featuring Rich Wilson in asalute to the great singers of yester-year, will also be included.

    On September 22, a cruise willleave Chelsea Pier in New York for atour of New York Harbor. The excur-sion will include a buffet lunch andentertainment.

    There will be a trip October 20 tothe Fiesta Theater in Wood-Ridgefor a performance of the comedyLet’s Get Rid of Grandma, in which“Grandma” is actually the familycat. A choice of entrée will be avail-able and served during the perfor-mance.

    Finally, a trip is scheduled forNovember 17 to the Culinary Insti-tute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y.,where participants will have lunch atthe DeMedici Restaurant and alsotour the cooking school.

    Chartered buses for the trips willall leave from the rear of the ScotchPlains Municipal Building, locatedat 430 Park Avenue, at scheduledtimes.

    The cost of each event (excluding

    bus fare), along with registrationdates, will be announced. Space per-mitting, non-Scotch Plains residentsmay participate in the trips.

    Brenna Rene JoinsDeProspero FamilyJohn and Michelle DeProspero of

    Fanwood have announced the birthof their daughter, Brenna ReneDeProspero, at 11:04 a.m. on Tues-day, March 16, at Overlook Hospitalin Summit.

    Brenna weighed 7 pounds and 7ounces and measured 19½ inches inlength at birth.

    She joins her sisters, Kiera, age 5,and Riley, age 3.

    The baby’s maternal grandparentsare Russ and Terry Hamill ofFanwood.

    Her paternal grandparents are An-thony and Marge DeProspero of HighBridge and the late PatriciaDeProspero.

    Ms. Ryleigh Ann Whalen, the daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. William Whalen ofSewaren, formerly of Westfield, wasmarried on Saturday, September 13, toWilliam Wright McMeekan, Jr. He isthe son of Mr. and Mrs. WilliamMcMeekan of Westfield.

    The Reverend ChristinaMcCormick officiated at the after-noon nuptials, which took place atThe Presbyterian Church in Westfield.A reception followed at the Glen RidgeWomen’s Club in Glen Ridge.

    Given in marriage by her father, thebride wore an ivory silk gown. Herbodice featured patterns of crystals andsequins, while her skirt was in the styleof a traditional ball gown. The bridecarried a bouquet of blue-green hydran-gea, ivory roses and eucalyptus.

    Ms. Kelly Knowles of Williamsburg,Mo. was the maid of honor for her sister.She wore a strapless, pale green, chif-fon, floor-length dress with patterns ofcrystals and sequins on the bodice. Herbouquet was a smaller version of the

    one carried by the bride.Jay McMeekan of Garwood, the

    bridegroom’s brother, served as thebest man.

    Readings were done by Ms. HeleneSellers, the bride’s aunt, and by AllanDillow, the bridegroom’s uncle.

    A 1995 graduate of Westfield HighSchool, the bride earned anassociate’s degree in Display andExhibit Design from the Fashion In-stitute of Technology. She is a designprofessional who is currentlyfreelancing with Barneys New York.

    The bridegroom, a 1985 graduateof Westfield High School, received aBachelor of Arts degree in Psychol-ogy and English Literature from DrewUniversity in Madison. He presentlyis employed as a teacher of televi-sion production with the ScotchPlains-Fanwood school district andalso is a volunteer firefighter inMountainside and New Providence.

    Following a wedding trip to Ha-waii, the couple resides in Summit.

    Antique Car ShowOn Tap at Chelsea

    FANWOOD – The New JerseyRegion of the Antique Automo-bile Club of America will hold anantique car show on Saturday, June19, at The Chelsea at Fanwood,located at 295 South Avenue.

    First, second and third placeawards will be given. This event,which is free and open to the pub-lic, will take place from noon to 3p.m. Entertainment will be pro-vided at 2 p.m. There will be norain date.

    The Antique Automobile Clubof America is dedicated to thepreservation, restoration and main-tenance of automobiles and auto-motive history.
