MOST EVERYONE HAS HEARD OF:

Reasonable developments & practices in these areas provide some relief for many people from numerous medical, psychological and spiritual conditions.

But I am here to say that these forms of Mind-Body Medicine are far too primitive and not what ´Spirit Based´ or Noetic Medicine is all about.

Today I attempt to lay the foundations for Noetic Medicine - or the true scientific basis for spirit * based medicine.

* Spirit - Chi, Ki, Prana, Holy Ghost, Spirit of God or Unitary Field of Physics.

INTRODUCTIONTo make the case for Noetic Medicine this talk will primarily be about:

• The nature of reality and

• The nature of the soul

Which implies a new cosmological paradigm.

Why is cosmology important?Because the Big Bang is Atheisic no Spiritual

components exist; so an Anthropic or spirit based cosmology must be developed.

What is Mind to Contemporary scientists???

The current vogue – Biological Mechanism states:

‘The laws of chemistry and physics are sufficient to explain all life; no other principles are required’.

‘If we had the correct program we could duplicate all of human intelligence of a standard computer of today.’

Providing a physical basis for the action of the ‘life force’ or élan vital would finally change this myopic perspective. The empirical formalization of such an action principle leads to a whole new class of medical conditions and associated ‘spirit’ based treatment modalities. When psychology is recast as a hard science ‘Moral Psychology’ will have a pragmatic basis. This immense task is accomplished by first extending the standard model of cosmology from the current naturalistic ‘Bigbang’ theory to one that contains an inherent teleology or purpose. Making this change leads to a domino effect that runs through all the other standard models of science. Evolution remains in the new model, but it is not a random Darwinian evolution; but one considered to be ‘guided’ by the teleological action inherent in a Conscious Universe.

Holographic Anthropic Multiverse.

About 100 years ago spiritual and scientific medicine were on an equal footing. Both techniques were intermingled with folk remedies. With the advent and increasing success of scientific or allopathic medicine, Noetic, or spirit based medicine was pushed aside. Technology was a major facilitator in the success of scientific medicine. Now finally we have come full circle and Noetic science has progressed sufficiently that we are able to put Noetic Medicine on an equal footing with allopathic or scientific medicine.

PART 1: Philosophy of MindPHILOSOPHICALLY NOETIC MEDICINE IS

BASED ON A FORM OF CARTESIAN - ECCLES INTERACTIVE - DUALISM.

Body had distinct properties that interacted with each other:

DESCARTES' CONCEPT OF DUALISM

Inputs are passed on by the sensory organs to the brain and from there to the spirit.

PHILOSOPHY OF MIND

René Descartes’ (1641), dualism describes the relationship between mind and matter claiming that mental phenomena are non-physical. Mind/body dualism originated as far back as Zarathushtra, Plato & Aristotle to deal with the existence of an incorporeal or immortal soul maintaining that "intelligence" could not be identified with, or explained in terms of the physical body as in the currently popular cognitive model.

Descartes was 1st to identify the mind with consciousness & self-awareness and to distinguish this from the brain. Hence, he was 1st to formulate the mind-body problem in the form it exists today. Dualism is contrasted with various kinds of monism as promoted my Amit Goswami. In the Noetic Model of Dualism-Interactionism the mind and body are both physically real and empirically addressable.

How does the basis for Noetic Medicine differ from the basis for standard Allopathic or Scientific Medicine??

The difference relates to what is called “Biological Mechanism”.

Biological Mechanism is a Darwinian atheistic model devoid of the spirit of God.

To move beyond pure mechanics a new cosmology is required.

The concept of an élan vital or life force has long been considered the elementary action principle driving the evolution of complex self-organized autopoietic living-systems. Sufficiently extending Einstein’s original model of a Static Universe, to a Conscious Universe, solves the centuries old problem of introducing this type of teleological principle. This means biological mechanism can no longer be considered the formal philosophical basis of living systems and contemporary allopathic medicine. This new noetic action principle has far reaching implications for medicine and transpersonal psychology leading to development of conscious technologies. The immediate question is not if the current medical paradigm will be shifted; but how soon the necessary requirements can be implemented so that world societies may reap the benefits.
