Wanted Prayer Warriors!!
As you know, prayer is so important in our faith journey. OSL has a Prayer Calling Chain.
Here is how it works: Sandy Loney will get the first call, she will then call the next person on the list, and that person will call the next one,

Call Sandy's cell phone at 515-332-5677 or email sl_eastlone@hotmail.com to become a prayer warrior.
Also, if you, or someone you know needs prayers, please call or email

forgive you for the times I experienced these from you, as well. It is part and parcel of being in community; may we never forget that we are all beloved of God. God bring healing for us all. God will provide for you – I pray that you will let him gather you under his wing and lead you more deeply into a life of faith and community. May you find ways to continue to care for each other, no matter how differently each of us sees and experiences life and even, Christ himself. God’s grace and peace to you, Pastor Lissa Kahl
LETTER POSTERS
April 15, 2018 Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church 1212 Sumner Avenue SW Humboldt, Iowa 50548 Dear Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Council and Congregation, I regret to inform you that I am resigning from my position as Associate Pastor at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. My last day will be Monday, April 23, 2018. I have truly enjoyed my time talking, teaching, laughing, worshipping and praying with you and your children, as did my own children, Isaiah and Jordan. We were family for and to each other for a moment in time that I am grateful for, and, that will no longer be again. I am thankful for those who tried new things, went new places, engaged new ideas and met new people. The trust you placed in my leadership and the work of God within me is an honor. The vulnerability you showed as I ministered among you was a privilege I never took lightly. Your openness to the movement of the Holy Spirit and courage is a gift to the church that will bless you many times over. Celebrating the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation with you trying out Cross-Generational Sunday School was deeply meaningful to me. Being able to share the skits and discussion questions that Dan and I wrote for the mid-week services as we strove to process this moment of history and make it meaningful once again in new and profound ways was as much a gift to us, as well. I, too, learned some new skills from you – particularly, managing the booth for polka fest, designing the new church website and leading a group of fledgling young band students in a brass choir. I ask forgiveness for the things I didn’t do well, for the times I unknowingly let you down, said something hurtful, did not meet your expectations, or failed to express gratitude or welcome. I

find it easier to accept. For instance, if a pastor does a funeral for Jane because she was so special, why won’t the pastor perform a baptism for Joe’s family? It’s easy to see how hurt feelings would not only affect Joe’s feelings toward the former pastor but perhaps also feelings within the body of Christ between Jane’s family and Joe’s family. It is important for us to understand that as of May 1, 2018 Pastor Broughton is no longer our pastor but he will pray for our continued and future mission and ministry and for a strong and fruitful partnership with our future pastoral leader. Therefore Pastor Broughton cannot:
Come back to perform weddings, funerals, or baptisms; Visit the sick and the homebound; Continue in any counseling relationship with a parishioner; Be involved in any way in the call process (helping with the
profile, recommending candidates, commenting on a particular candidate);
Support or give advice to anyone involved in a congregational disagreement ;
Return to lead worship services (unless down the road he is invited back as a “former pastor” to participate in a special event, such as a church anniversary).
We give thanks to God for the time Pastor Broughton was with us and we pray for him as he now goes forth to serve God and the church in new ways. We are working with the synod office to find an interim pastor and eventually enter in the call process for a new pastor. We trust that God will send us a new leader who will be called to serve God and the ministry of this congregation for the next stage of our ministry. In Christ,
Mark Zylstra

LETTER POSTERS
The OSL Quilting Group is finishing another year. They sent
48 quilts and 29 school kits to Lutheran World Relief on April
21. These should provide comfort and ability to attend
school to families in need. The group can use washable
fabric and used blankets and sheets for more quilts. Three
yard pieces of fabric can be used in sewing kits.
The group appreciates Evelyn Pedersen who sews many quilt
tops and school bags for them at home. Also the group
appreciates all the work Marilyn Lindemann and Phyllis
Fevold have done. The group would like others to join them
when they start work in the fall. No particular sewing ability
is needed, just willingness. They meet the second, fourth,
and fifth Thursdays at 8:30am.
From the President: Dear OSL family, This is just a note to share information and offer some guidance regarding the next couple of months for OSL. The bishop's office is working to secure an intentional interim pastor. We think that may be as soon as June. In the mean time Ron Rasmussen will lead us in worship. We are fortunate God has prepared him to help in this way. Please lift Ron up in your prayers and support him. We have made arrangements in the event emergency pastoral care is needed. Please call the church office in those cases. You may also call me if you are not able to reach the church. Please also contact the church office if you become aware of the need to include someone in the prayers of the church. We will confirm that is desired. Please hold one another, our leaders, and our church in your prayers as we move to a new start. Your brother in Christ, Mark 515.570.0125
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Pastor Gene Broughton and the Congregation Council have signed a covenant, which helps us understand our relationship with one another as we move forward without him. When a pastor leaves a congregation or retires, it is not appropriate for him to continue to function in the pastoral role. This is difficult and sometimes painful for us to understand. However, if we remember that part of our calling as the people of God is to care for the body of Christ and not injure different members of it, we might
