Are you a bully or being bullied?

Bullying Defined

“Bullying is when someone repeatedly and on purpose says or does mean or hurtful things to another person who has a hard time defending himself or herself.”

Bullies are usually powerful and self confident.

Does this girl look innocent?

Signs of someone being bullied

Loneliness or shyness

Withdrawn

Wants to be alone

Depression, sadness or not wanting to go to school.

Fear

Anxiety

Types of Bullying

Do you see these things happening?

Taking away things and then mocking someone.

Bullying occurs when there is an unbalance in power.

Tattle telling just to get someone in trouble.

Sometimes bullies try to deflect negative attention onto someone else.

Physical threats

Sometimes it can get physical.

Cyber bullying or posting mean things on social networks

Facebook

Texting

Myspace

Emails

Twitter

Making fun of someone in front of others to belittle that person.

Name calling

Laughing loudly at someone

Saying mean things about someone.

What do we do about bullies?

What would you do?What would you want done?Are you being a bully?

Fighting back physically is not the best approach.

Talk to a teacher.

Everyone around should defend the weak.

Don’t be a bully! Be a friend!

We should all try to get along or at least stay away from those that want to hurt you.
