For example pizza:Between 1870 and 1970, over 26 million individuals

departed from Italy as migrants, typically in search of work. The residents of Italy had long been poor, but only in the late nineteenth century did their poverty motivate them to travel such long distances. When Italians sought work, they tended to travel along well- established commercial routes.
