• Long term and multiple conditions are common

• People tell us they often feel invisible and uncatered for

• It can be hard being active when you live with health conditions especially if you're caring for someone else

• It can be difficult to get the right support to get started

• Many people that physical activity has be for half an hour, or at a gym to count

“I’m still on my own two feet.”

Even on the days you don’t feel like it… by the time you start you’re happy to keep going.”

Getting Started

Some barriers to physical activity

Motivation

• I’m not motivated enough• I need advice• I don’t have enough time• I’m too tired

Worries

• I’m worried about coronavirus• I feel self-conscious or anxious• I have other commitments

Condition

• My condition is unpredictable and this makes it hard to commit to a routine

• I worry about making my health issues worse

Accessibility

• Facilities are difficult to get to / not accessible

• It’s too expensive

What have people done to motivate themselves?

…continue with tai chi, yoga and core exercises

…have a selection of videos playing on a loop to get motivated

… more active within the home environment … cycling on my new machine and take up swimming again

… carry on with my dire dance routine (for my eyes only, in the privacy of my lounge)

WAU can help me to find that "wow" factor in my daily routine!

…keep mobile and positive as possible

…I intend to keep up with the walking
