Which Pump is the Right One?
MESSNER supplies just the right pump for all purposes!
We have summarised the technical specifi cations of all
the various models available to assist you in choosing
the right pump for your needs.
X-tremely MESSNERMESSNER completes the successful launch of the eco-X
pumps and introduces the fi ve new lines system-X, eco-
Tec, eco-Tec plus, power-X and power-Tec.
Thus, the change of design and technology of the new
pump generation is concluded.
...X-tremely versatile!
The MESSNER system-X pumps form the entry-level
versions.
These are magnetic rotor pumps in six different types:
system-X 750, 1000, 1501, 2501, 3500 and 4500.
The pumps will be available in a smaller version of the
eco-X housing.
By means of the extensive accessories, they are perfectly
made for various applications. The suction areas are
distinctly bigger than the ones of the predecessor.
...X-tremely economical!
The eco-X series, which has been introduced in the year
2007, will now be available as a built-in pump with a
stand but without a fi lter housing. These eco-Tec and eco-
Tec plus series with outputs between 4.800 and 19.200
l/h are fi rst and foremost for technical insertions.
They can be used e.g. in separately set up pump chambers
or in connection with gravitation fi lters. Because of the
patent pending rotors of this type, the working expenses
of many fi lter-units can be reduced by up to 50%. Dirt par-
ticles in the water up to 8 mm grain size pass the Vortex
Non-Clogging Impeller unhindered.
...X-tremely powerful!
For the need of higher discharge heads, MESSNER also
introduces the new power-X pump series – optimized
for use with fountains. By using a closed rotor and an
optimized housing, also in eco-X design, values of up
to 13.800 l/h at a discharge head of 8 meters can be
reached.
Also this pump series will be available without fi lter
housing. It goes by the name of power-Tec.

Our high-performance Multi-System “MP” pumps are ex-
actly the right choice for large ponds and high fountains!
For fi lter systems, brooks and high waterfalls we offer the
Multi-System “MPF” and Multi-System “M” pond pumps
which are suitable for dirty-water up to a particle size of
6 mm.
Both pump series are, of course, equally suitable for
pumping water in garden and fi sh ponds as well as for
water aeration and circulation.
A comprehensive range of accessories enhances the ver-
satility of our small system pond pumps, for example for
use in ponds, indoor and outdoor fountains as well as for
operating fi lter systems, small brooks and water plays.

Floating Fountain
With the Allrounder you can combine different types of
jets and lighting to create your own water display.
The Allrounder can be operated as a fl oat or it can also
be set up unmovable in the pond.
Last but not least there is the additional fi lter function for
protecting your pump and fountain jet. You can also install
your pump inside the fi lter housing for waterfall or brook
operations.
The stainless steel housing fi lters do not let pass dirt
particles bigger than 4 mm to protect the pump and to
ensure a long operation time.
Best for large pond projects is the application of the
Allrounder with the FloatSet, which enables the installation
anywhere in the pond, independent from the water level.
Of course you can also use the StationarySets (500 mm
or 1000 mm) to install it in the pond. Please choose a
beautiful water display, a fountain jet, a powerful and
energy saving pump and underwater fl oodlights for an
effective fountain lighting.

Natural Stone Fountains
Regardless whether it is a ball, a column or a millstone,
natural stone is always something that never fails to
catch the eye. Stone, however, only reveals its true colour
in conjunction with water.
These sets enable you to realise your dreams of deco-
rative stone fountains. The piping from the pump to the
stone is pre-assembled: simply fi ll the basin with water,
insert the plug and the stone fountain immediately starts
to bubble. In case of the columns and balls the fl ow of
water is regulated from the outside.
If required, for example in winter, the pump can be remo-
ved from the basin without having to dismantle the stone.
Stone fountains are available in various colours. Optical
deviations may occur due to the natural material.

Some Information
Gravitational Filter
This fi lter works on the principle of
gravitation and is extremely effi cient.
The installation must be included in the
design of a pond from the planning
stage on.
The inlet to the fi lter must be integrated
in the pond wall. Filters operating with
the gravitation principle are installed at
pond level.
To make sure that the level remains
constant, the maximum water level in
the pond must be fi xed by means of an
overfl ow, and an automatic water supply
system.
The pump is installed behind the fi lter
(non-submersible installation) and pumps
the clear water with pressure out of the
fi lter back into the pond. This can be
done for example with a waterfall or a
brook.
Advantages of the Gravitational Filter

example, under a patio
or boards
• The design of the pond
has a more natural
appearance when not
cluttered up by a fi lter,
pump and hose
• The pump only
delivers clear water,
thus keeping mainte

“Up-Flow” Principle
Multiple Chamber-Filter-Systems
MESSNER has developed various polyester
fi lter systems to maintain clear pond water.
The products range from the fi lter for small and medium-sized
ponds to professional systems for large, sophisticated ponds
fi lled with precious fi sh and Koi. The housing is UV and
temperature-proof, of robust design, and distortion-free.
In the pond there is a Nitrogen circulation. The fi sh
seek their food either in the pond, or are fed. The
waste in form of fi sh excrement and food remnants
sinks to the bottom. Organic plant remnants such
as leaves and grass also fi nd their way into the
pond. Micro organisms transform these materials
into ammoniac NH4 (ammonium NH3) through the
consumption of oxygen. Ammoniac is extremely
poisonous for fi sh and other living beings in your
pond. Various bacteria transform the ammoniac/
ammonium into nitrite NO2 with the aid of oxygen.
But nitrite is equally as poisonous as ammoniac.
In turn, particular bacteria in the circulation trans-
form nitrite into nitrate NO3 with the aid of oxygen.
Nitrate is only hazardous to fi sh in high concentra-
tions but it is an important nutrient for pond plants.
A high proportion of nitrate in the water can, how-
ever, prompt strong growth of algae and turn the
pond into a “green soup”. That is no problem for
your fi sh but your problem is that you cannot see
them anymore. Certain pond plants can suffocate
due to the effect of blocked sun rays and conse-
quently cease production of the vital oxygen.

developed to make sure your pond water
remains clear and of good quality.
Effects of a Multi-Chamber-Filter
Our multi-chamber fi lters
are designed in line with
the “Up-Flow” principle.
The water is fed to a dirt
chamber at the bottom
where a large amount of
dirt is already collected.
The water subsequently
rises through the fi lter
medium and enters
the next dirt chamber
through the bulkhead
wall. The dirt collected in
the chamber should
be drained off regularly
using the drain valves.
The dirty water can be
fed into the sewerage
or can be used for
irrigation or in the garden
as manure.
The Effect of Vortex
Systems using as fi rst
fi ltration step a round
fi lter chamber are of
great advantage; a large
proportion of the dirt
particles sink through the
slowly whirling current
inside the chamber to
the bottom. Afterwards
the water fl ows through
the other fi lter chambers.
The pump effi ciency
should be adjusted care-
fully to create a properly
functioning fi ltration
system. Too high pump
performance not only
leads to fi lter overfl ow but
has also an adverse effect
on the fi lter effi ciency at
the same time.

Bio-UVPondFilters
Systematic Filter-Optimization
The effect of the Bio-UV fi lter is easily and effectively
optimised, through the use of a „Vortex-Chamber“ –
in particular when used in ponds and pools containing
fi sh.
The slowly rotating currents cause dirt particles, plant
residue and fi sh excrement to sink; these are then
collected in the „waste-chamber“. The ball-valve faci-
litates simple and convenient waste drainage.

Important Notes:
• The maximum fl ow volume in the gravitational fi lter
is slightly lower than that of a set-up fi lter.
• Hoses, hose diameters, angles in the hoses and
UV-C's all infl uence the volume of fl ow in the fi lter
system. To prevent overfl owing, or draining of the
pond, the rate of fl ow must be set accordingly.
Speed governors are ideal for this purpose.
• The information provided has been compiled with
great care. Nevertheless, it must be pointed out that
installation, supply, the number of fi sh in the pond,
feeding, sun rays and contamination all have a major
infl uence on your garden pond.
• Our calculations are based on UV-C's with a power
consumption of at least 2 watts per 1.000 liters
water.
• As previously indicated, oxygen is a major factor in
the circulation of nutrients in a pond. Bearing this in
mind, we recommend the use of aeration pumps as a
support of the bacterias' work.
• In dimensioning fi sh ponds we work on the basis of
max. 50 to 70 cm of fi sh per 1.000 liters of water.
Please take into account when choosing the size of
fi lter that the number of fi sh in your pond will rise
very quickly in good quality water.

Skimmer Effect
Skimmers enable dirt particles to be sucked off the water
surface before they sink to the bottom and contaminate
the pond.
The top section of the skimmer fl oats on the water
surface at the optimum position being secured by an air
cushion. The pump sucks off a thin fi lm of water causing
a current of water towards the skimmer on the surface
of the pond. Large items such as leaves or grass are
trapped by the skimmer fi lter cage and can be removed
from time to time; smaller dirt particles fl ow into the
pond fi lter for fi ltration.
An additional positive biological side effect is achieved
through sucking off the warm surface water: the tem-
perature of the water at the bottom of the pond remains
constant, thus reducing the creation of algae.
Skimmers can be used as a suction fi lter for the pump
to operate a waterfall or brook. They are quickly cleaned
without dismantling the pump.

Underwater Floodlights in Tec-Design with 2 Cable Entries
An innovative lighting variant. Each of these lights has
two cable entries. This modular system enables custom
installation of multiple spotlights with desired cable
lengths on just one transformer, which signifi cantly
reduces the number of electrical lines in and around the
pond. The underwater fl oodlights can be universally im-
plemented, and they are ideal for illuminating fountains
and water features in the water.
The 20, 75 and 100 watt lights can also be used out-
side the pond.
The halogen bulbs in these lights achieve extremely high
luminous effi ciency and long service life. This results in
signifi cant energy savings in comparison with conven-
tional bulbs. The fl oodlight has a temperature change
resistant Tempax glass cover and glass fi bre reinforced
plastic housing.

Speed Governor
For infi nitely variable adjusting fountain heights and fl ow
volumes. Pumps are easily regulated by means of a tur-
ning knob on the speed governor. By reducing the power
input of the pump the energy consumption cuts down,
too. The unit is simply plugged in between the socket
and the pump. The turning knob can also be used to
turn off the pump. Perfectly suitable for fi ne adjustment
of fl ow volumes when using fi lter systems.

Attention must be paid to the “effective” delivery
capacity when selecting the pump: in other words,
the amount of water that still arrives at the beginning
of the waterfall. This must be calculated on the basis
of the maximum pump delivery, the height difference
between the water level and the outlet, the hose
length and the hose diameter.
This table lists the “effective” delivery volumes in liter
per minute (l/m). The highlighted fi gures indicate
the values at which hose length, hose diameter and
delivery volume match best.
