Fall 2017Course Advising & Registration
Dear Student:
1. An Academic Calendar for Fall 2017.
2. Calendar Notes, that explain events on the academic calendar and alerts you to the deadlines.
3. A list of Faculty Members, who will be teaching the courses, shown on the class schedule.
4. A Week Planner, that helps to schedule your academic activities.
Fall 2017 will see you through Eid-ul-Azha, Durga Puja, Ashura, Victory Day and Christmas. The consequence of so many holidays is that the semester is not evenly spread. Undivided attention is the only way to perform well in the Fall Semester. Return promptly after the holidays and be prepared for full speed. You have to start with Advising and Registration.
Some of the information you need for advising and registration are pointed out below:
This Registration Package booklet is available in the Department Office.
A Class Schedule and a List of Courses will be posted to your department.
Changes to the class schedule and faculty assignments will be posted on Notice Boards, and updated copies will be available in the Business Center.
Advising and Registration for Fall 2017 is scheduled on Sep 11 – Sep 12 and Sep 15.
Your department will post notice informing you about the place and time of Advising and Registration when you must queue up and present yourself before your advisor when called.
Classes begin on Wednesday, 13 Sep 2017.
Step-1: Pay Semester Fee Before meeting your advisor, you must settle all past dues and pay the semester fee to Presidency University Accounts.
Step-2: Present Receipt to AdvisorYour advisor will ask for the receipt of semester fee at the beginning of the advising session.
Step-3: Sign StatementAt the end of the advising session your advisor will give you a statement of your courses and tuition fees for Fall 2017.
After you and your advisor have signed this statement, your advisor will register you into the courses advised.
Late Registration For advising and registration after Sep 12 and through Sep 26, a late fee of Tk. 400 will be charged.
Tuition PaymentsOnce registered, you are obligated to pay all tuition and fees that are due to the university.
You can pay your tuition in three installments as shown in the calendar.
Support your university and pay your tuition and fees for Fall 2017 before classes begin on Sep 13, 2017.
Go OnlinePresidency University has launched a web page where students can get their necessary information, i.e. semester grades, account balance, etc. They can create their own account as well as email. Visit: http://sims.presidency.edu.bd/, log in and get rolling.
Please carry/wear your Student ID Card while entering the university premises as you will need it to use library resources, computer lab and to collect any document from the Registrar’s Office.

FALL 2017Calendar Notes
Sep 11, Sep 12 (Regular Students) & Sep 15 (Weekend/Friday Students), are Advising and Registration days on campus. Do not miss your turn, show up on time.
Past Dues must be settled before you can register for Fall 2017. If your account is overdue, your records will not be shown on the computer and your advisor will not be able to advise you. Please report to Presidency Accounts, settle your dues, then request the Registrar’s Office to restore your records for advising.
Late RegistrationIf you miss your turn a late fee of Tk.400/- will be charged for advising and registration from Sep 13 through Sep 26, the last day for late registration.
Tuition PaymentsOnce registered, you are obligated to pay all tuition and fees that are due.
You can pay your total tuition in three installments:
1. 20% on or before Oct 06, 08, 09 & 10, 2017. Penalty of Tk. 350 if delayed.
2. 60% on or before Nov 05, 07, 08 & 10, 2017. Penalty of Tk. 350 if delayed, and
3. 100% on or before Dec 05, 06, 08 & 10, 2017. Penalty of Tk. 350 if delayed.

Rules of AttendancePlease be mindful that paying tuition and fees are not the only conditions to continue in a course. Regular participation in classes and exams are mandatory. Faculty members may authorize withdrawal of students who are irregular, disruptive, or have missed four classes.
Section Change You must attend the section in which you are registered to. If needed, change your section by Sep 26, 2017. Contact the Department Office for assistance.
Add and Drop Period You can drop (with refund) and add courses from your schedule through two weeks of classes i.e. Sep 26, 2017. Changes during this period are not shown on transcripts. Since you cannot add/drop any course after this date, Sep 26 is the last day to add/drop courses from your schedule.
Withdrawing from a Course You can withdraw from a course (without refund) after Sep 26 through Nov 09. If you withdraw, the grade W will be assigned to your academic record/transcript.
Last day to Withdraw After Nov 09, you may not withdraw from a course and a final grade will be assigned based on your academic performance. Absence or poor attendance may lead to an F grade.
No Refund Students enjoying tuition waiver or any other advantages from the University are not entitled to any refund on any ground after Sep 26, 2017.
Changes to your RecordPlease note that no change in your transcript is automatic. If you notice that your academic record as well as your personal information needs an update, you must act instantly. Consult your advisor regarding the academic issues and start the necessary paper works to authorize changes to your record. Contact the Registrar’s Office for personal info update.
Check your GradesLog on to http://sims.presidency.edu.bd to check your semester grades. You can buy copies of the academic rules and regulations from the Business Center.

FALL 2017Rules for Examination Hall
10. In case of open book examinations, students are not allowed to borrow books or any other materials from another student.
11. Students who wish to attract the attention of the instructor/invigilator during the examination shall do so by raising a hand.
12. Students must not communicate with any person other than the instructor/invigilator during the examination.
13. Students are reminded that cheating in any examination is considered a serious offence, which could lead to expulsion from the University. The following would be treated as “cheating” during an examination:
a.Communicating or trying to communicate in any way with fellow students
b.Attempting to view/show/exchange examination question and answer script with others
c.Using unapproved examination materials, such as: calculators, mobile phones, formulas
d.Possessing “cheat sheets” e.Writing on question paper (except
instructed/permitted), admit card, wall, desk, body parts, dress, scale or on any other materials
f. Leaving the examination hall without the permission of instructor/invigilator
14. If any student is found adopting “cheating” during the exam, his/her conduct must be punished by the instructor/invigilator. In case of any type of difficulty to do so, it may be referred to the “Academic Misconduct Committee”.
15. Invigilator’s decision may be considered final in all matters stated within this guideline.
1. The program offices will do the seat planning.
2. The door of the Examination Hall will be opened only upon arrival of the course instructor or invigilator.
3. A seat with name and ID number will be allotted to each student. Students must find out and occupy the seat particularly assigned to him/her. Also the course instructor should match the script with the label.
4. The invigilator is authorized to verbally warn or move the student or seize the answer script if cheating occurs.
5. Unruly behavior of the students toward the instructor/invigilator is considered as a serious offence.
6. Students will not be allowed to leave the examination hall within first 30 minutes from the time examination starts. After 30 minutes, a student may leave the hall only with the permission of invigilator for a period of maximum 5 minutes. Before leaving the desk, student must secure his/her examination script.
7. Students are required to bring their own pens, pencils, erasers, calculators, rulers, etc. They are not allowed to borrow these items from other students.
8. Only simple functioning calculators and scientific calculators are permitted in the examination. Programmable calculators, laptops, digital diaries, mobile phones, etc. are not permitted inside the examination hall.
9. Students are not allowed to keep books, papers or other aids with them during the examination except for open book examinations. However, in case of open book examination bags and other such articles must be left in designated areas at the front of the examination hall.
