The Canadian Auto Recyclers Environmental Code

(CAREC) was developed to help standardize the process

for recycling ELV’s. We’ve made it a mandatory part of

belonging to our Association. Every vehicle our members

handle goes through a methodical process to maximize

reclamation and minimize environmental impact.

All our members are certified by an

independent third-party audit to meet

the standards of the Canadian Auto

Recyclers’ Environmental Code

When a vehicle reaches the end of its life, it can be an

environmental nightmare if it isn’t handled properly.

Toxins from batteries, oils, fluids, refrigerants or mercury

switches can contaminate the soil and groundwater and

make their way into the lakes and rivers and air.
