“idea” like a great studio session. Music Drives Chicago is a social initiative celebrating and documenting the years
of rich history Chicago produces in the area of music. As a means to celebrate the
experience of creativity and collaboration, attendees will have the opportunity to
observe the happenings inside the studio when an artist, producer, and engineer collaborate

Music DRIVES Chicago: Music and Media Round-table Discussion
Venue:: TBA | Chicago, IL
7
In association with Chicago Ideas Week (CIW), the Music Blogger's Association of America (MBAA) through our
Music DRIVES Chicago initiative is proud to present a discussion that addresses the state of recorded music,
media outlets and urban communities throughout the City of Chicago. Featuring two panels of respected industry
leaders, the MBAA will host a conversation about the connection of traditional media and blogging within the
modern music industry; moreover, an additional discussion highlighting the effects of hip hop within urban
communities. The joint goal of CIW and the MBAA is to initiate an open dialogue on how to create positive and
lasting relationships between the music, media and communities supporting the cultural growth of Chicago.
Panel 1: Music, Bloggers, and Media
Music artists once sought a major recording deal along with radio air play as a means to break records. Home to
some of the industry’s most respected, established and growing music blogs in the nation, the music created in
Chicago no longer needs the machine push to reach other media and other blogs, nationally. This Round Table
discussion will generate innovative ideas of how Chicago’s new and old Media can bridge the gap to create a
platform to support is multilayered emerging music scene. With some of music’s heavy hitters joining the
conversation, Bloggers, Media and artists will walk an away with a clear understanding of the joint effort it will take
to continuously build Chicago’s musical influence. The Music Drives Chicago arts and cultural initiative will be
charged in developing Key Deliverables to sum up and put to actions the ideas and points generated in the
conversation.

Music DRIVES Chicago: Music and Media Round-table Discussion
Venue:: TBA | Chicago, IL
h
Panel 2: Hip Hop and The Urban Community
Revered as the voice of subjective reason since its inception, Hip Hop has remained as the most influential medium
to the millennial generation. As a result of this, it is natural to parallel the ruthless music industry tone and
hardnosed behavior reflected in lyrics, to the increasing violent nature within the African-American community. Is
Hip Hop’s influence guiding the poor behavior scene within the Chicago Urban Community? This discuss will
acknowledge the problem and offer a solution. The idea of holding artists accountable is examined. Music Bloggers
Association of America via The Music Drives Chicago cultural and artistic community initiative serves as the
medium between Artists and the community. This group of change influencers unites to make changes.
