Blurred and unidentified, these colours are a product of imagination and not a little dreaming. Neutral and softly natural with a hint of cool. Even if the shade has cool overtones the touch is soft. We have the idea of nesting in a feather light cocoon. Grey and lavender are the prime influences in this essentially natural palette. It is sophisticated and chic but also with a new style edge. These are creative naturals.

DISTORTION OF LIGHTDigital draping

DISTORTION OF LIGHTDigital draping

Digital draping is a new form of pattern cutting and body draping that uses light and pro-jections to determine cut, texture, pattern, integration and future silhouette. This process was developed by Nancy Tilbury, Clive van Heerden and their colleagues during the wear-able technologies projects at Philips Design in the late 1990s. By using a full-size or hand-held projector, the designer places graphical or textural elements (of their choice) onto the body of a fit model, dancer or stand to develop dynamic shape and form.

Looking at the impact that 'Fast Fashion' is having across the design land-scape. I'm fascinated with the pace in which we de-sire a change in our ap-pearance through dress. Transient,Transformative,Transitional I feel perfectly describes what I'm explor-ing. I want to peal, layer and transform pieces. It will be transient, transformative, transitional. Pure Fashion. As William Morris once said "nothing useless can be truly beautiful"

Reveal conceal is the concept behind my final master’s collection, which was born through examin-ing the importance of the human silhouette. Exploration of shape in context to the body in contem-porary times has always played a strong role in my work. I wanted to strip back and refine my designs to their simplest and most power-ful visual forms. By using luxury fabrics versus sportswear materials I aim to push forward the boundar-ies of fashion creation. I question how we can contemporize un-con-ventional materials into traditional design-led methods. My explora-tion of materiality leads to the use of acrylic in the collection, this becoming a key element applied to create blocking, concealing and highlighting areas of the body.
