1.3 Configuration and operation.
1.3.1 Configuration mode (common for all modes)
Turn power ON to the DEIF controller. When engine is not running, set in DEIF controller parameters like
Voltage, frequencyOperation mode type:1. Stand alone2. Parallel with grid3. Parallel with Genset (droop method)
To make changes go to Parameter menu and press ENTER.Password for accessing Parameter menu is 2000.Go to required option and press ENTER to edit parameter.Change value of parameter by arrows and accept it by pressingENTER.
Warning: PE controller will not accept new settings of mode ofoperation, output voltage and frequency when engine isrunning. Changing those parameters during when system is in
GENERATING MODE will cause system to stop.
1.3.2 Start-up and shut down.
To start Genset and system press green start button( I ) on theGenset controller front panel. If engine has successfully stared after few seconds Green LEDover the generator symbol (sine wave in a circle) should come on.
There is one minute engine warming time when engine will beworking with speed greater than 1500 rpm. After one minuteengine will settle at the minimum set speed. This means that Generator is working correctly. After 20-30seconds (depends of set mode of operation) contactor 1 will be

closed which will put set voltage on VSIG terminals. This isindicated by green LED situated over switch symbol.
To stop press red button ( O ).Green LED over switch symbol will immediately switch OFF andcontactor 1 open. When engine stops Green LED over generatorsymbol will start blinking. This means that system is shutting down. When LED will go off this means that system has shut down fullyand is ready to start again.Warning: Do not press start button before system has fully shutdown (while LED is blinking).

1.3.3 Setting output voltage
To make changes go to Parameter menu and press ENTER.Password for accessing Parameter menu is 2000.Go to PE volt mode (15) option and press ENTER to edit
parameter. Set required output voltage using arrows and acceptit by pressing ENTER. Change will have effect on the next startof the system.
1.3.4 Setting output frequency
To make changes go to Parameter menu and press ENTER.Password for accessing Parameter menu is 2000.Go to Freq mode (19) option and press ENTER to editparameter. Set required frequency using arrows and accept it
by pressing ENTER. Change will have effect on the next start ofthe system.
1.3.5 Adjusting output voltage (17)
-10% -10% around previously selected valueValue of the output voltage can be adjusted from -10% to +10% with 0.1% minimum step.To make changes go to Parameter menu and press ENTER.
Password for accessing Parameter menu is 2000.Go to Volt adj (17) option and press ENTER to edit parameter.Set adjust voltage using arrows and accept it by pressingENTER. Change will have effect on the output voltage.
Note: This function works only in stand alone operating mode.
1.3.6 Setting voltage dip parameter (16).
Voltage dip parameter sets allowable transient voltage dipduring full step load. Lower the voltage dip -> higher theminimum speed. To make changes go to Parameter menu and press ENTER.Password for accessing Parameter menu is 2000.

Go to PE Volt dip (16) option and press ENTER to editparameter. Set required voltage dip using arrows and accept itby pressing ENTER. Change will have immediate effect on thevoltage dip parameter.
Note: Voltage dip during step load is depended of minimumengine speed. If voltage dip during step load (from no loadcondition to full load condition) is higher than set in the menu, minimum speed (20) of the engine must be increasedaccordingly.
1.3.7 Min RPM (minimum engine speed) (20)
To make changes go to Parameter menu and press ENTER.
Password for accessing Parameter menu is 2000.Go to Min RPM (20) option and press ENTER to editparameter. Set required minimum engine speed using arrowsand accept it by pressing ENTER. Change will have immediateeffect on the minimum engine speed.
Minimum engine speed parameter is to set idle speed of theengine at no load condition. Lower engine speed means lovernoise and fuel consumption of the whole Genset at small loadless than 30% of the total Genset power. Unfortunately itimpacts voltage dip during the full step load (0-100%). If voltagedip is not within set voltage dip parameter(16) this means thatminimum engine speed must be increased. Operator has todetermine optimal engine speed needed to fulfil requirement bytest. If full step load will never be applied to the Gensetminimum engine speed can be significantly decreased.Depends of the engine but typically 1200 rpm can be sufficientto achieve 30%-50% step load with 10% voltage dip.

1.4.1 Stand Alone mode.
This mode can be used only when Genset will be operating asa single unit as it is shown on Figure 4.
1.4.2 Grid connection with back synchronisation.
After start-up PE will go into synchronisation mode. Insynchronisation mode, system checks mains parameters asphase sequence, voltage, frequency and compares them withsettings send in configuration mode.
When grid parameters are correct with internal settings, PEoutput voltages will be synchronised with grid voltages.
When synchronisation is finished and PE controller will closecontactor1 and indicate it by green diode over switch symbolon EC1.Amount of power (active and reactive) injected to the grid is setby DEIF Genset controller. It can be changed in Parameter \ DEPMAND P for active powerand Parameter \ DEPMAND Q for reactive power. When grid parameters are not correct, PE controller will reportappropriate error message and system will shut down.
Messages can be:f not ack frequency of the bus varies from set frequencyTerm volt not ack voltage of the bus varies from set voltagePhase sych not ack wrong phase sequence
When grid is lost, PE controller will open contactor1 and waitfor two minute for the grid voltages reappear. If grid voltages reappear during two minute period system willsynchronise back to the grid and will start producing power with
the recently set values. If grid voltage will not reappear after two minutes, system willshut down with the appropriate error.

1.4.3 Parallel operation of two Gensets any type (synchronous orVSIG)
After start-up PE will go into synchronisation mode. In
synchronisation mode, system checks mains parameters asphase sequence, voltage, frequency and compares them withsettings send in configuration mode.
When bus parameters are correct with internal settings, PEoutput voltages will be synchronised with line voltages. When synchronisation is finished, PE controller will close outputcontactor1 and systems will start sharing load using droopmethod 4% speed droop and 2% voltage droop.
Note:In all modes system will report faults of its internalcomponents, overloads, short circuits.
1.4.4 Aux DC charger. (23)
If system is equipped with Aux DC supply, operator can selectone of required output modes (OFF,12V,24V,42V).If set output mode is not available from the supplied unit orsystem is not equipped with Aux DC supply system will issueinitialisation error.
1.4.5 Aux DC voltage adjustment (24)
Operator can adjust output voltage around previously selectedoutput mode. For 12V supply adjustments are 10V-15V with step of 1V.For 24V supply adjustments are 19V-30V with step of 1V.For 42V supply adjustments are 32V-52V with step of 1V.Actual output voltage and load current is displayed on screen25.
If Aux DC charger is overloaded it will issue Aux DC overloaderror. For internal transistor failure Aux DC driver errormessage will be issued.
