Scales have a root note just like chords. There are many scales to learn so I'll begin by
showing you a scale shape.
This is the major scale and the root is on G so it is a G major scale.
The root notes are Red
Let's take this shape from
the 3rd to the 7th fret

Concept: If I keep the same scale shape and move to another fret
then I have changed keys. To remain in the same key I
must change the scale shape as I move frets.
Now we have a B major scale

3 notes per string same rules apply when moving
the root to another fret
