M41 - AUXILARY BUS EXPANSION BOARD Rev. 1

1. Overview

This board serves as an interface board for outputs expansion boards provided by

CNC4PC (M22, M26 and M28) and the Pokeys55 Auxiliary Bus.

2. Features

• Up to 3 M41 boards connected in cascade using the Pokeys Auxiliary Bus.

• Support up to 2 output expansion boards.

• Provide up to 24 Outputs.

• 5 wires board to board cable to connection with the M2 “PoKeys55 MOTHERBOARD”.

3. Requirements

The board is powered through the M2 “PoKeys55 MOTHERBOARD”. The “5 wires board to board” ribbon cables powers each board.

4. Board description

Auxiliary Bus Input Connector: Use the provided ribbon cable to connect to the

Auxiliary Data Bus connector on the M2 or another board or series of boards that

are connected to an M2 board.

Auxiliary Bus Output Connector: Use this optional connection for connecting

another expansion board with the Auxiliary Data Bus.

Expansion Port connectors (1 and 2): Allows connecting regular expansion boards

designed to be connected to the main ports of the M2. Currently these boards are:

- M22 – 12 x Discrete +5vdc TTL Optoisolated Outputs.

- M26 – 12 x Relay Boards.

- M28 – 12 x +24vdc Output Signals.

PoKeys55 enables user to add 10 8-bit shift registers to the outputs of the PoKeys55 device.

Each M41 supports 3 of the 10 bytes.

If two expansion boards are connected to the M41, its outputs will be associated to

the following 3 bytes how is shown in the below figure.

Where MSB and LSB are respectively the “Most Significant Bit” and the “Least

Significant Bit” of every Byte.

6. Configuring the Auxiliary Data Bus in Mach3. Go to Plugin Control / PoKeys Config and select the Cfg. 80 pin out Aux. Bus.

Assign the LEDs that need to be assigned outputs. The LEDs then can easily be accessed through screens or brains.
