Three pieces of art that spark my interest

INFORMATIONTitle: Terremoto en Popayán

Artist: Fernando BoteroDate of Composition: 1999Artistic Era: Postmodernism and Deconstructivism

WHY I CHOOSE ITMy favorite aspect of this painting

is that it is based off an event that really happened. On March 31 an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 occurred in the city of Popayán. The artist turned the ugly aftermath into something beautiful through this painting. This proves to me that inspiration and beauty can be found in anything.

INFORMATIONTitle: African BeachArtist: Marià FortunyDate of Composition: Around 1867

Artistic Era: Realism and Impressionism

WHY I CHOOSE ITThis seems like a calm painting. It

doesn’t have any eye catching properties that really make it unique. This is why I am so fond of it. By anyone else, the beauty of this simple painting could be passed up. But I am not anyone and admire the differentness of this simple painting.

INFORMATIONTitle: ResurrectionArtist: Bartolemé BermejoDate of Composition: Around 1475

Artistic Era: Venetian and Northern Renaissance

WHY I CHOOSE ITThis painting strongly depicts my

faith which is a very large part of who I am. It represents one of the most important events in the Roman Catholic Church. Since I am a practicing Roman Catholic, I feel that I have a connection to the meaning of the painting.
