Pentecost Sunday May 31, 2020
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Welcome back! I am happy and excited to see
you back in the church. As we resume our public
celebration of Masses and liturgies, we are
beginning a “New Normal” as you have noticed
changes in the church. These changes will be in
effect until the guidelines from the Diocese are in
effect. Here below I want to mention the
guidelines issued by the Diocese for the public
celebration of the Mass/Liturgies.
To promote the health and safety of our faithful
and those whom they will encounter the Diocese
of Toledo has provided some guidelines for the
public celebration of the liturgies.
1. The faithful of the diocese of Toledo
continue to be dispensed from the Sunday
obligation until further notice. Those who
are at greater risk the elderly, sick, those
with pre-existing conditions are
encouraged to refrain from returning to
public liturgies until such time as they feel
comfortable and confident to do so.
2. To ensure proper social distancing in the
church every other pew is blocked off.
This will reduce our holding capacity to
50%. If there is an overflow, we have
sitting arrangements made in the parish
hall.
3. There will be no procession through the
congregation at the beginning and end of
the mass.
4. Song books from the pews have been
taken out though there will be music
during the mass. A cantor will lead the
faithful in chanting hymns.
5. There will be no offertory collection or
procession during the mass. Collection
baskets have been placed at all the
entrances of the church. You may drop off
envelops when you enter the church or
exit the church.
6. To avoid physical contact the sign of
Peace continues to be suspended and
during the Lord’s prayer we are not to
hold hands.
7. Communion procession will be limited to
a single file. The distribution of the
precious Blood from the chalice continues
to be suspended during this time. All
faithful are strongly encouraged to receive
the Holy Communion on the hand.
8. To discourage social gathering after the
mass there will be no coffee and donuts.
9. Faithful are highly encouraged to use Face
masks.
10. Parish bulletins are placed at the entrances
to the church.
11. Hand sanitizers are available at all
entrances to the church.
12. All pews in the church, chairs, ambo, door
handles, push plates and nobs will be
sanitized after each liturgy.

Pastor 2020 Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) This year our parish goal is $ 6500.00. We have
raised $ 3440.00. Which is about 53% of our
goal. Every gift above our goal will be used in
our parish. I want to appeal everyone to help us
reach the ACA goal. Thank You! Envelopes are
available on the table in the Narthex.
First Friday Eucharistic Adoration Please join us this Friday, June 5 for a quiet time
of prayer. We will open the church at 8:00 a.m.
and it will remain open until 8:00 p.m. If you
would like to sign up there are still times
available. If you are unable to come at a specific
time, please stop by for a visit when you can.
Time spent with our Lord is never time wasted.
Thank you to Diane and Abby Wensink for
decorating the church throughout Lent, Holy
Week, and the Easter Season. The church
remained open during the day for visitors and
quiet prayer although no Masses or liturgies were
celebrated. It was heartwarming to see the church
lovingly decorated for visitors.
Flower Sale THANKS to everyone who supported the Altar
Society flower sale. It was a big success even in
the middle of the pandemic. Thanks to everyone
who preordered and those that bought the extra
hanging baskets. Hopefully next year we will be
able to bring back more of the extra hanging
baskets. Thanks again for supporting the Altar
Society as the money raised will be used for the
needs of the Altar.

Funeral Dinners We would like to thank the families who have
donated food for the past funeral dinners. The
families in need at that particular time are always
so grateful for your kindness. Many families
don’t put the obituary in the paper and many of
our parishioners no longer receive a newspaper.
We would like to invite you to sign up to be
called if you would like to donate food for a
funeral. We are also looking for people to help
prepare and serve the meals. Please call the
parish office if you wish to be notified for food or
if you are willing to work. Thank you!

A Family Perspective Like the disciples in today’s gospel, there are
times we shut the doors of our hearts to people or
events. It’s how we create emotional distance.
Permanent distancing is lethal and prevents the
PEACE Jesus offers you today.
