Three Points

1. The more you learn, the more you know and the more you can do

2. Do something significant3. Have the courage to follow your convictions

``Knowledge and productivity are like compound interest.'' Given two people of approximately the same ability and one person who works ten percent

more than the other, the latter will more than twice out-produce the former.

The more you know, the more you learn; the more you learn, the more you can do; the more you can do, the more the opportunity - it is very much like

compound interest.

Alex Ferguson

David Beckham is Britain’s finest striker of a football not because of God-given talent but because he

practises with a relentless application that the vast majority of less talented players wouldn’t contemplate

Our society frowns on people who set out to do really good work. You're not supposed to; luck is supposed to descend on you and you do great things by chance. Well, that's a kind of dumb thing to say. I say, why shouldn't you set out to do something significant. You don't have to tell other people, but shouldn't you say to yourself, ``Yes, I would like to do something significant.''

Smash Party trailer

As far as I’m concerned, gone are the days of the proprietary Leapfrog device, at the forefront of educational games is TigerFace Games.

The players are asked to make math problems, work together collaboratively, and then earn extra points by challenging themselves and each other to make harder equations. That's pretty brilliant if you think about it: it means that my older kids can challenge themselves, while my my younger son can still stay in the game. We need more apps like that.

One of the characteristics of successful scientists is having courage. Once you get your courage up and believe that you can do important problems, then you can. If you think you can't, almost surely you are not going to.

They will go forward under incredible circumstances; they think and continue to think.

PROJECT GINSBERG

Delivering mental health services using new technologies.Project Ginsberg is about tackling common mental health problems.

WHO?

People that feel stressed, anxiety, depression, overworked, unhealthy or lonely.Often don’t want to talk about their problems.

DESIGN CHALLENGES

Population is very diverse. People aren’t depressed ‘ALL’ the time.Feels like things just have to be the way they are.

HELPING PEOPLE TO COPE, NOT CURE

No one can ‘cure’ depression. But you can learn to manage it or get better. It’s about finding ways to cope better.

DIGITAL != INTERACTIVE

Currently, digital is a leaflet … online. Need to move on from this. What does that look like? IM? Text? Facebook? Twitter?

THE INTERNET CHANGES EVERYTHING

People are looking for help on the internet. Need to be there at the right place. How do you help people cope better?

In summary, I claim that some of the reasons why so many people who have greatness within their grasp don't succeed are: they don't work on important

problems, they don't become emotionally involved, they don't try and change what is difficult to some other situation which is easily done but is

still important, and they keep giving themselves alibis why they don't. They keep saying that it is a matter of luck. I've told you how easy it is; furthermore I've told you how to reform. Therefore, go forth and become great scientists!
