What is a logo?Logos represent the identity of an organization, product, brand, or idea. Logos are persuasive.

Rules of Logo Design• Keep it simple

• Logos should be effective both large and small scale

• Logos should be effective in color and black & white

How do these designs describe the brands they represents?

Font (type) can be descriptive:The bold and

capitalized text in these logos inspire confidence in the brands.

What do these fonts say about these brands?

ColorRed and yellow produce the most stimulating color combination, creating a sense of urgency and hunger. Brown literally represents the historic color of packing paper as well as the sense of being solid and reliable.

Students will design 2 separate logos.

The first logo will be a redesign of the South Warren Middle school logo.

The second logo will be a personalized logo for the individual student.

Logo 1: SWMSRedesign the South Warren Middle school logo.

The redesigned logo should be completely different than any of the current SWMS logos.

Ask yourself: What do I want people to know about my school?

The logo must include both type and an image representing SWMS.

Logo 2: Personal LogoThis logo will be your own personal logo.

The logo should represent you to the general public.

The logo should tell viewers information you want them to know. Remember logos are persuasive in nature.

The logo must include type and an image. All images must be created from scratch or manipulated from existing images. No cut and paste.

Presentation

Both logos must be posted on your personal web page.

Both logos must have a paragraph posted stating your reasoning for the design, including why you chose the type and images in your logo.
