Day of Pentecost
Living Waters Lutheran Church
Preparing for Worship. As you enter the Sanctuary we invite you to
pick up a bulletin & communion elements and leave your offering
gifts at the table in the gathering space, and find a place to sit
that is marked by blue tape.
In order to maintain safe practices, we expect everyone (even those
that have been fully vaccinated) to remain masked throughout the
service and practice social distancing. We encourage you to hum,
sing and verbally respond quietly throughout the service.
Welcome!

SPECIAL MUSIC “Spirit Calls, Rejoice" (Handt Hanson)” Sound

LESSON: Acts 2:1-21
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one
place.
And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a
violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were
sitting. Tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue
rested on each of them.
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in
other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.
Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven living in
Jerusalem. And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered,
because each one heard them speaking in the native language of
each. Amazed and astonished, they asked, "Are not all these who are
speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our
own native language?
We are from Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, Iran and Iraq, Israel and
many parts of Turkey including near Istanbul and Ankara, some of us
are from Egypt and northern Libya, or visiting from Rome in Italy,
from the island of Crete or from Saudi Arabia.
But still we all hear the apostles speaking about God’s deeds of
power in our own languages! All of them were amazed and perplexed,
saying to one another, "What does this mean?"
But others sneered and said, "They are filled with new wine."
But Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed
them, "Men of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be
known to you, and listen to what I say. Indeed, these are not
drunk, as you suppose, for it is only nine o'clock in the
morning.
No, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:
'In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my
Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men
shall dream dreams. Even upon my slaves, both men and women, in
those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy. And
I will show portents in the heaven above and signs on the earth
below, blood, and fire, and smoky mist. The sun shall be turned to
darkness and the moon to blood, before the coming of the Lord's
great and glorious day.
Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be
saved.'

Weekly Worship Assistants Needed!!
As the people of God we are called to worship through our prayers,
songs and actions. Everyone has a place in worship and we need your
help to make worship meaningful and go smoothly. Each week the
following help is needed in worship:
· Hosts: The hosts check people in, direct them to the bulletin
& elements & dismiss folks at the end of worship.
· Readers: The readers read the Psalm or lesson, and the prayers of
the people (the prayers are already prepared for you).
· Treat Makers and Servers: Following worship treats will be served
on the front lawn. Ideally the person bringing treats would also
help serve. This could be a team effort as one person could serve
coffee and one person could serve treats.
· Sound Board/Camera Operator: This job is far simpler than it
sounds. Some training is required, but it is actually very simple.
Please see Michael Weber.
· Communion Set Up: An email was sent to the pre-COVID communion
team this week, but we are looking for at least one more person to
help out in the weekly rotation. This job sets up communion
elements for the congregation.
· Clean Up Crew: This person or group of people wipes down the pews
with wood safe cleanser following worship and also sanitizes the
microphones, music stands, and light switches.
The counting team will continue to handle their sign up’s
separately. To sign up to help, please visit
livingwaterslutheran.org or contact Katie in the office.
Covid Update
As the Minnesota “Dial Forward” continues to loosen restrictions on
community engagement, we as a church are continuing to discern how
best to love our neighbors in the midst of the continued spread of
COVID-19 and increased vaccinations. Until everyone has the
opportunity to be vaccinated, we will continue to strive to create
space for everyone to participate in the life of the church in the
safest manner possible. This is an ongoing process of discernment
which the leaders of this church take on prayerfully.
New Shifts:
· You may remove your mask when outside the building.
· Coffee & Treats will be served after worship on the front
lawn.
· Adding elements back into worship: Confession & Forgiveness,
Apostles Creed, reading of the Psalm and singing throughout the
summer.
· Worship will be outside during the month of July.
· All groups may resume meeting at church if desired.
Remaining the Same:
· Our commitment to loving our neighbor by creating the safest
possible environment for engagement.
· Wear masks inside the building, especially during worship.
· Stay home if you are unwell & get tested if you have been
exposed or show symptoms.
· Keep physical distance between family groups.
· Maintain 12 feet of distance between performer/worship leaders
and audience.
· Sanctuary doors will remain open during worship and other events
to aid with air flow/exchange.
· Use individually packaged communion elements and remain seated
during worship.
As always if you have any questions about LWLC’s COVID-19 Protocols
please see Pastor Ivy, or the written protocols are hanging on the
window in the vestibule.
