STEWARDSHIP MESSAGE
March 31st –Fourth Sunday in Lent “ NO Longer was there manna for the Israel-ites, who that year ate of the yield of the land of Canaan.” Over the forty years that the Israelites jour-neyed through the desert, God provided them with manna to eat. As soon as they were able to enjoy the fruits of the Promised Land the manna ceased. Likewise, God’s blessings to us may change over the years but it is important to trust that God will always provide us with all that we need.
The Pontifical Good Friday Collection
Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Christians in the Holy Land. Your sup-port helps the church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious education. The Pontifical Good Friday Collec-tion also helps to preserve the sacred shrines. The wars, unrest and instability have been es-pecially hard on Christians. In these times of crisis, the Pontifical Good Friday Collection provides humanitarian aid to refugees. When you contribute to the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, you become an instrument of peace and join with Catholics around the world in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land.
Please Be Generous!

PRACTICAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A BETTER ORGANIZED MASSES
1. Please, turn off/silent your cell phones be-fore Mass.
2. Don’t talk in the sanctuary, respect others who want to remain in prayer.
3. Chewing gum is not allowed in church at any time.
4. Don’t be afraid to pick up your hymnal and praise the Lord, you don’t have to be a profes-sional singer.
5. The Missalette is a great help for all of us. Please, arrive early, go through the readings, and kindly give your attention to lectors when the Word of God is being proclaimed.
6. The Cry Room at the entrance of Church is reserved ONLY for parents with small chil-dren.
7. Don’t leave church after communion, wait for the closing prayer, blessing, and closing hymn.
4th Sunday of Lent – March 31, 2019
Readings: Jos 5:9a, 10–12 • Ps 34:2–7 • 2 Cor 5:17–21 • Lk 15:1–3, 11–32
RECONCILED
Do you want to be happy? Do you want to re-joice? Do you want to live in joy? I don’t know about you, but I desire the joy described in today’s psalm: “Look to him that you may be radiant with joy, and your faces may not blush with shame. When the poor one called out, the LORD heard, and from all his distress he saved him” (Ps 34:6–7). Joy comes with reconciliation. In three verses, Paul uses the word reconciled five times. Being a new creation “is from God, who has recon-ciled us to himself through Christ and given us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting their trespasses against them and en-trusting to us the message of reconcilia-tion” (2 Cor 5:18–20). But to reconcile literally means “to bring together again.” In other words, something has to be torn apart before it can be reconciled. Brothers and sisters, we each have places in our lives where we have torn ourselves away from our relationship with God. These are called sins. Some of us have big sins. Others of us have little sins. And it is our sins which rob us of our joy. To retrieve our joy, we’ve got to be reconciled. But to be reconciled we must admit our sins. We must confess them. We must repent. Think of the younger son in today’s parable. Only when he was so hungry that he longed to eat the pig slop did he “come to himself” and decide to repent. “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you” (Lk 15:16, 18). But why wait that long? Why wait until we hit rock bottom to change? Why not begin to live greater joy now?
