Technology at Finch

- We want to equip students with skills to evaluate and think critically about the information they receive

- We want to give students the skills to organize and present information using technology

- We want our students to understand and appreciate technology as a tool to enhance learning

How do we do this?

Provide students with access to reliable resources (online databases, reliable web sites)

Teach students how to use ministry and board approved programs (i.e. Word Processing programs, subject-specific curriculum related software, graphic organizers, multimedia presentations, etc.)

Teach students to be media literate and to demonstrate an awareness of internet safety and proper online ethics

Where are we at Finch?

Classes visit the lab weekly + additional times when needed

Technology is integrated into classroom learning (i.e. extension of classroom studies)

Teacher-Librarian is supporting classroom technology integration by teaching students how to use basic search engines, catalogue search (junior grades) and basic computer skills (primary classes)

The next best thing to know something is knowing where to find it. Samuel Johnson 1775
