Lecture by Interior designer Farah Al Humaidhi : “Personal Experience as a Woman Designer and Entrepreneur”, Royal University for Women, AC01 , Thursday, October 8th, 2015, Organized by dr. Janon Kadhim and attended by CAD studnets and members of the public.
Ms. Farah Al Humaidhi is a prominent Kuwaiti Interior Designer and entrepreneur. In addition to her own design practice she has also created her line of furniture and Accessories “Pieces by Farah” which she also promotes online.
Ms. Farah is very active in social media and is well known by many young designers and design students through her social media sites, blogs and all. She has also currently entered the world of teaching providing workshops on interior design which have become very popular in the GCC countries.
During a short visit of Ms. Farah to Bahrain to conduct a workshop, CAD Dean was able to contact her and request she visit RUW to speak to our CAD students about her experience as a woman designer and entrepreneur. She kindly accepted our invitation and came to RUW to deliver a talk to our students.
Since she is very active on social media and has many young followers, as soon as he announced that she would be at RUW, many young women from other universities in Bahrain cam to attend the talk. The hall was almost completely full with CAD students and faculty members and guest visitors.
She spoke of her experience and the various stages she has gone through exploring various aspects of the design profession. Her talk was very inspiring and the audience interacted with her in a very positive way.
At the end of her visit, Ms Farah was presented with a certificate of appreciation and an RUW trophy in appreciation of her visit and talk. CAD Dean also discussed with her possibilities of conducting a workshop for our students and the public at RUW in Semester 2.
