Where do they live?

What chipmunks live in Colorado?

Chipmunks live underground in burrows and in rocky areas.

Three different types of chipmunks live in Colorado. The Colorado Chipmunk, Uinta chipmunk and the least chipmunk live in Colorado.

How long are the teeth?

How long are the claws?

Chipmunk teeth are less than ¼ inch long.

Chipmunk claws are about 1/8 - 1/4 inch long.

What do they eat?

City chipmunks can eat pizza. Chipmunks eat seeds and nuts and berries.

How much do they eat?

How do they communicate?

They wag their tails and chatter.

Chipmunks eat a small handful of food a day.

How fast can they run?

What sounds do they make?

They make a chatter noise.

Chipmunks can run 7 – 8 miles per hour.

How long are they pregnant?

Chipmunks are pregnant about a month or 30 to 33 days.

How many babies do they have?

How big are the babies?

They are the size of a child’s pinky finger. They stop nursing at 6 or 7 weeks.

They have 4 or 5 babies. Five babies are called quintuplets.
