Karratha Airport• The Karratha Airport (KTA) is located in the north west of Western Australia.

• Owned and operated by the City of Karratha it is the second busiest airport in Western Australia with a gross number of passengers on all aircraft types in excess of 817,000 p.a and in excess of 9,000 landings throughout the year.

• The terminal remained operational throughout the redevelopment programme

• No essential facilities unavailable

• Minimal negative passenger feedback (except when we closed the bar for 2 weeks)

• Karratha Airport terminal dates to 1983

• The concept for the upgrade was to maintain only the existing steel truss structure, roof and floor slab.

• A comprehensive upgrade of facilities, services and finishes were completed.• The design incorporates extensive glazing, shaded by wide

overhangs, providing natural light. • The environmental air-conditioning system minimises energy

consumption by incorporating:-

• low speed high-volume fans,

• co² monitoring of return air,

• entropy transfers to pre-cool supply air.

Terminal Redevelopment

• Dual lane security screening

• 8 arrivals & departure gates

• 10m high atrium added with seating

for over 700 people and a 2 multi screen digital displays

• 5 retail shops

• 7 rental car booths

• Second level 800sqm

• International capability

• Two baggage claim devices

• Expansion of the baggage
