Today’s Program... Julanne Williams, Lieutenant Governor for Division 10, came for-ward to handle the installation of new club officers. She first intro-duced our new Kiwanis Governor, Linda Lawther, who offered congratulations to the club and offered encouragement to all of the new club officers. Julanne then started the program by first offering thanks to all the club members who participated in any way to club activities over the last year.
She then called forward Presi-dent John Dahl to thank him for a great year of service as President of the club and for achieving the goals he set for his year in office. She also gave him a plaque, which John said was worth $3,000. It is a beauti-ful plaque, but probably not quite that beautiful. Julanne then recognized the outgoing Board Members (Alan Burg, Gordon Beeman, John Schenk, Sheridan Springer and Martha Petroski) and thanked them for their service.
John Dahl then took over and called forward Cliff Sheldon and his wife to congratulate Cliff (and Ingrid) for his many years of service as Club Treasurer. Cliff received a Legion of Honor Award as a Past-President, a plaque for outstanding service as Club Treasurer, and a well-deserved standing ovation from the club members.
Julanne then returned to the podium and called forward the incoming Board Members (Dick Smit, Ken Shaw, Claire Dahl, Kathy Barden-Perlberg, Jim Carey, and Martha Petroski). She thanked them for accepting their new responsibilities and officially installed them as Board Members.

Today’s Program Continued... Julanne then called forward Jeanette Okuley to thank her for her last two years as Club Sec-retary and to officially install her as Secretary for the upcoming year. Next Julanne called for-ward Robert (Bob) Johnson (not pictured) and installed him as the new Club Treasurer. Fi-nally, Julanne called forward Betsy Ford (not pictured). She thanked Betsy for accepting a club leadership position and then installed her as President-Elect for the upcoming year.
Last, but not least, Julanne called forward John Goff and installed him as Club President for the upcoming year. After receiving a standing ovation, John thanked his wife and gave a few remarks. First he congratulated all of us for our outstanding service to the community and asked us to prepare for a challenging year as we move toward purchasing a new Kiwanis Building in Scio Township. He then outlined three primary goals for his year as Presi-
dent. First, he wants to have the club reach the $100,000 goal we set for the Eliminate Project. Second, he wants us to vigorously seek new members, in par-ticular younger members. Third, he recognizes that our transition to the new Kiwanis building will be a challenge and he urges all of us to work smartly and efficiently during the next year. Finally, he said he wants Kiwanis to clearly be the best service club in the community.

Announcements…
President John Dahl asked for a motion to select Martha Petroski as a one-year Board member to replace Bob Johnson. The motion was made, seconded, and passed unani-mously.
Martha Petroski was happy for the people who had paid, and was looking for the peo-ple who still had to pay for the Kiwanis Club outing at the Purple Rose Theater on Octo-ber 24.
From Club Secretary Jeanette Okuley - There is an important change for both the Michi-gan District email address and the District website address. The new email address will be districtoffice@mikiwanis.org, the website address will be www.mikiwanis.org, please make a note of it. These will be effective Oct. 1st, the previous email and website ad-dresses will be discontinued on Nov. 1st.
Volunteer Wanted - Be admired by your peers and the envy of your friends! The club Newsletter needs a volunteer to serve as occasional backup publisher. The ideal candi-date would have a Windows-based computer, and a working knowledge of MS-Publisher or MS-Word. The club will provide the MS-Publisher software if you need it. Training available. Fines and Happy Dollars…
Fines: Gary Donner proposed a fine on all the new members. The motion passed with a few laughs. Dan Dever proposed a fine for everyone not wearing a suit. That motion did not pass, maybe because President John Dahl was not wearing a suit. Not to be de-terred, Gary Donner asked Past-President Lynne Lande to consider the same motion. Sensing defeat, there were not as many negative votes and the motion was ruled to have passed. Later in the meeting Dan Dever proposed a fine on all members wearing a suit. That motion passed without opposition.
Happy Dollars: None today, so save your dollars for next week.

Publisher’s Correction: An article in last week’s edition incorrectly identified Mike Dabbs as the donor of four $25 gift certificate golf outing prizes. While Mike is a generous Kiwanian and fine fellow, the actual donor of the gift certificates was M Den, “The Official Merchandise Retailer of Michigan Athletics”. Your Publisher apologizes for his error.
