Today we reviewed the concept of conditional probability. We then began learning about Independent and

Dependent events, and how to calculate the probability of these events.

Key Concepts this week:

Overlapping probability: Multiple events happening at one time.

P(A OR B) = P(A) + P(B) – P(A and B) if mutually exclusive P(A and B) = 0

Dependent probability: Multiple events happening one after another.

P(A AND B) = P(A)*P(B|A) if independent P(B|A)=P(B)

Conditional Probability: Probability of a an event occurring with a restriction on the total.

P(A|B) = P(A AND B) / P(B)
