From mid-March into April 2019, widespread deadly flooding has affected large parts of Iran, mostseverely in Golestan, Fars, Khuzestan, Lorestan, and other provinces due to several major waves ofrain. The flooding is now moving downstream to badly affect the Khozestan Province, in south-westIran. This region is a very big flat basin were fast changes can occur. Hence, the request is for dailyflood monitoring.The present map shows the flood delineation in the area ofAhvaz (Iran). The thematic layer has beenderived from post-event satellite image using a semi-automatic approach. The estimated geometricaccuracy (RMSE) is 5 m or better, from native positional accuracy of the background satellite image.

Products elaborated in this Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping activity are realized to the best of ourability, within a very short time frame, optimising the available data and information. All geographicinformation has limitations due to scale, resolution, date and interpretation of the original sources.
