Kazakhstan is a very large producer of all fossil fuels. In 2016, Kazakhstan was the 10th largest coal producer in the world. It also ranked among the top producers of crude oil (16th) and natural gas (23rd).
In total, Kazakhstan’s energy production covers more than twice its energy demand. This enables Kazakhstan to be major energy exporter. In 2016, the country was the 7th largest coal exporter in the world, 12th crude exporter and 20th natural gas exporter.
