•  Market size: Expected growth within 5 years to > 5% plastics market (for NL ca. 500 M€)

•  Partners: 26 companies and 6 knowledge institutes

Biopolymers in the Netherlands: The BPM project 2009- 2015

•  Main result: 9 projects finished, yielding:

•  - prototypes of biobased powder coatings, •  - high impact polylactic acid, •  - plexiglass from citric acid, antimicrobial sheets of chitin, •  - PBT based on dimer fatty acids, •  - composite resins from isosorbide, •  - printerpanels from bioplastics •  and sustainability analysis of these developments

Green Deal Sustainability Certificates

Ambition: To stimulate the use of renewable feedstock for the production of polymers by implementation of sustainability certificates.

Framework for voluntary certification biobased polymers and chemicals

- catalogue with sustainability criteria - quality criteria for voluntary certification schemes - chain of custody schemes - framework tested in 4 pilot projects

International cooperation
