PARK

Waffle Park is a vital element to the city's culture and history. It is used to serve as a critical connection in between two important music centers in the city of San Antonio. The newly renovated Tobin Municipal Auditoriumis just southwest of the site from the park and the House of Music, a proposed master plan for a musical theater, is just northeast. Located on the river walk, in the River North area, it acts as a fundamental piece of the newly growing urban puzzle. The unifying concept that drove the design of the site and structure of this project is the wave motion of the water in the river. It not only serves as a premiere tourist destination for the new comers, but it also operates as a prominent component to the elaborate history and future of the San Antonio River walk. This communal river walk provides the link to the newly renowned art and music district as well as to the rest of the city. The master plan is to transform the existing parking lot areas into a location suited for music and cultural performance, markets of fresh local foods, and art galleries alike. The circulation on the site for pedestrians, bicyclists, and river barges connect all of the sections of the site together. We have numerous walking paths and bridges within the site and the master plan creating large public spaces at their junctions. The waffled structure is the primary focus of the site and is meant to become another iconic sculpture of the city.

The base idea behind the futuristic design of this flying resort was to create a sky cruise line for land. This mobile hotel gives consumers the chance to see not only five amazing cities across the nation, but also provides endless sites and viewpoints that are rarely seen. The five cities our sky line has chosen to dock at include; Las Vegas, Aspen, New York City, Dallas and Miami. These destinations offer a variety of activities to enjoy year round.

Inspired by the need for modern and tranquil living for the homeless students enrolled at St. Philip’s College a few blocks east. A minimalist styled design enclosed within framed metal boxes made of sustainable materials allowed for the birth of clear defined spaces and functional comfort. Steel is used to minimize structure and maximize spans. This geometric embodied design offers a perfect place to unwind and relax after a long day at school.
