2015: MILESTONES ACHIEVED2016: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES
2015: HITOS CONSEGUIDOS2016: RETOS Y OPORTUNIDADES
Dear ALESTIS team,
The year which is coming to an end has been very intense in ALESTIS. This 2015 was defined as the year in which ALESTIS should achieve the breakeven target in EBITDA, i.e., the bu-sinesses, without including depreciation, amortisation and financial interest, would start to generate positive opera-ting cash flows in the company. Although we have not yet finished the closing of the year and the audited financial statements, I can announce that we will achieve this target. We are not yet ‘in the black’, in profits, and the investments of the A350 XWB, both for the ramp-up and for the Design-to-Cost, mean that our cash situation is still very critical. However, the road towards excellence has already been im-plemented and with everybody’s help, working together in a sustainable manner on ongoing improvement, I am sure that the coming years will be unstoppable for definitively lifting the doubts about the Company’s future in the aggressive ae-rostructures market in which we compete.
We are starting to receive offers from traditional customers, we have moved out of AIRBUS’s radar of risky suppliers, we are placed as a Top Supplier for BOEING and EMBRAER, we are delivering the products of the A350 XWB on time and achie-ving the final development milestones, with regard to certi-fication of the 900 version and delivery of the 1000 version, and we have the Legacy programmes of AIRBUS and of Airbus Defence & Space at percentages of compliance with order da-tes at the best levels ever in the history of ALESTIS. This year which is coming to an end has undoubtedly been a good year.
And now 2016 is arriving with new challenges and oppor-tunities. We need to exceed 2015 in all indicators of quali-ty, cost and deliveries of all our products. Next year will see the most ambitious rollout of AMES, which will consolidate the Management System and, above all, it will be the year in which we start to have profits in our Programmes. That is a great challenge.
I would like to thank the entire team of ALESTIS in Spain and in Brazil for the successes of 2015 and to encourage you to achieve the challenges of 2016 and I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas in the company of your family and friends.

EVENTOS ALESTIS | ALESTIS EVENTS
LANZAMIENTO CÓDIGO ÉTICO Y CUMPLIMIENTO | LAUNCH OF CODE OF ETHICS AND COMPLIANCE

The E&C Department has appeared in Alestis in 2015 with
a mission of generating value, ensuring ethical behaviours
and promoting the importance of the manners in which
the company’s objectives are achieved.
With the aim of having a benchmark framework of rules
for performing its functions, the area has worked this year
on drawing up the Alestis Code, a document which is man-
datory for everybody and which sets forth the behaviours
defined as inherent to our organisation.
After the document was approved by the Board of Direc-
tors, last October saw the start of the dissemination cam-
paign planned by the area for presenting, delivering and gi-
ving a brief explanation of the content of the Alestis Code to
the whole workforce.
The campaign is being conducted with presentation
sessions with the Management Committees, introductory
meetings with the workers’ committees of the different
workplaces and informational sessions with the employees
and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2016.
The area management would like to highlight and offer
its thanks for the support and attendance of the partici-
pants in the different sessions held and to encourage those
which have not yet been called to attend and participate in
the sessions.

NB ALESTIS | ALESTIS NEWS IN BRIEF
Last October, the plant’s first Level 1 SQCDP Panel in the
section of BF A350 XWB Panels was launched in the Ales-
tis Aerópolis facilities. This important milestone, which is
framed within the AMES deployment plan for improving
the company in terms of management excellence, pro-
cesses, innovation and people, represents a new achie-
vement that is the result of the effort of the entire team
of employees involved in the project. It is, furthermore,
the first stone in the foundations of the new Governance
Model with which the Assembly plant will be structurally
managed from now on.
Key factors in the success of this significant step were
both the quality of the training recently received by em-
ployees in 5S and Level Panels and the decisive involve-
ment of the whole team from the section and the Plant’s
support functions. We would like to send out our thanks
and our congratulations to all those involved for this
achievement.

ADB PRIMERA EMPRESA AERONÁUTICA EN SUDAMÉRICA EN OBTENER UNA CERTIFICACIÓN NADCAP | ADB FIRST AERONAUTICAL COMPANY IN SOUTH AMERICA TO OBTAIN NADCAP CERTIFICATION
mado Alestis do Brasil, nuestra planta más novel. Ha certi-
ficado 2 procesos, Composites y Ultrasonido, y últimamente
crecimiento.
ALESTIS PARTICIPA EN LAS JORNADAS STRUCTURE DAYS | ALESTIS PARTICIPATES IN THE STRUCTURE DAYS
Nadcap audits have been conducted in Alestis for 10 years,
since our customers, Airbus Operations and Airbus Defense &
Space, included them as a requirement for suppliers in Spain.
Alestis immediately committed itself to these new inter-
national requirements: as of today the plants in Spain have
14 certifications, all with Merit status, allowing the certifi-
cation period to be extended.
More recently, in the last two years, Alestis do Brasil, our
newest plant, has been included in this certification. It has
certified 2 processes, Composites and Ultrasound, and it has
recently received certification for a third process, Painting.
Alestis do Brasil with three Nadcap certifications is per-
fectly positioned for the coming growth stage.
For the second consecutive year, Alestis participates in
the Structure Days organised by the Materials & Proces-
ses Area of Airbus, in cooperation with Airbus Group Inno-
vations and Research & Technology, where our Company
was represented by Pablo Delgado, Head of Technology
and Carlos Saleiro, from the Materials & Processes Area.
The Structure Days aim to be a technical and professional
meeting for sharing experiences between the participants
and an forum set up for learning about ideas, trends, tech-
nologies and new developments in the aerospace industry.
During the session proposals relating to new more efficient
and low-cost solutions for composites, metallic materials and
assembly were discussed. In addition, aspects relating to the
bonding process were addressed and future structural con-
cepts were proposed and ideas contributed on how to integra-
te systems within the structure (SMART Materials).
Furthermore, it was possible to reactivate this coope-
ration between Airbus, Hexcel and Alestis to launch a cam-
paign of trials with a new ‘self-adhesive’ material.

FINALIZADA LA ETAPA MÁS IMPORTANTE DE UNIFICACIÓN DE TELEFONÍA EN ALESTIS | THE MOST IMPORTANT STAGE OF THE UNIFICATION OF TELEPHONE SERVICES IN ALESTIS HAS BEEN COMPLETEDDesde principios de noviembre de 2015, todas las sedes de
coste alguno.
As from the start of November 2015, all Alestis workplaces
are connected by one single switchboard which gives all
users full internal communication through a uniform alloca-
tion of extensions. New functionalities will soon be added:
Prior to this change, each workplace had its own te-
lephone switchboard (a total of 8), some of which with te-
chnologies which were independent from and incompatible
with the others, which did not allow internal communication
between all the workplaces. In addition, each workplace
needed to be managed independently and differentiating
between landlines and corporate mobile phones, which are
now included in the same network. In short, there were no
criteria for allocating extensions due to technical limitations.
With this change, the Company has improved its service,
management and sound quality and has also made savings
which means that all internal landline and mobile calls have
no cost whatsoever.
On 27 October the British company Nasmyth Group, re-
presented by its Business Development Manager, Mr. Rob
Holmes, and accompanied by the British consul in Bilbao,
Mr. Derek Doyle, made a sales visit to the plant.
The reason for the visit was to make an initial contact
with Alestis Aerospace so as to discover its technological
capabilities in Composites, Aerostructures and Systems and
to establish possible partnerships, which will lead to com-
mercial agreements between both companies.
The visit was hosted by the Head of the Engineering De-
partment, Denis Herrero, and the Head of Production Con-
trol in Vitoria, Iñigo Ruiz de Eguilaz.
The Nasmyth Group representatives highlighted ‘the
Company’s level of organisation, the commitment to LEAN
production methods and the management standards of the
Vitoria plant’. With regard to the products, they were parti-
cularly impressed by all aspects relating to integrating equi-
pment production in one single centre.

Tras numerosos
lizadas y obtener mejores precios.

13
The semi-trailer of the BF of the A350 XWB is a unique
Alestis innovation which arose from the need to increase
the capacity for delivery to the Customer by having a more
versatile transport system than the one used thus far and,
of course, to reduce the costs of shipping to Saint Nazaire.
Transport equipment is usually the ugly duckling com-
pared with production equipment. Normally, when we
think about transport equipment, the first thing that co-
mes to mind are simple crates, carts and containers, wi-
thout stopping to think that they need to guarantee that
the product reaches the customer in good condition and
that its handling, loading, unloading and logistical cost
should be optimised.
The process undergone by the transport equipment for
the BF A350 XWB (valid for the v900 and v1000), since the
first bids in 2010 until the new semi-trailer, has had various
evolutions in which various companies have participated,
and this cooperation is an example of a common participati-
ve vision between Alestis and its suppliers, partners in fin-
ding solutions and ongoing improvement.
In 2010, using the preliminary models of the Belly Fairing,
bids from relevant companies started to be studied with va-
lid technical solutions adapted to the challenges set by lo-
gistics. Following numerous studies, it was decided to divide
the macro-package of transport equipment of the Belly Fai-
ring into three smaller packages: the large structures, the
medium-sized structures and the panels. This allowed us to
use more specialised companies and to obtain better prices.
At the same time, proposals for improvement were co-
llected internally from users and participation and impro-
vement actions were launched which allowed us to have a
simple list of requirements for the transport equipment of
set 3 and set 4 of the Belly Fairing of the A350 XWB.
These requirements were the result of the collaboration
of a multifunctional team made up of:
» Juan Diego Vázquez, Production engineering.
» Rafael Malagón, Alejandro Tuya and Luis Ruiz de Egui-
laz, users of equipment and production.
» Juan Antonio Núñez, AMES in Puerto Real.
» Sergio Pérez, Equipment maintenance.
» Roberto López, Industrial A350 XWB.
» Juan Alberto Gómez and Manuel Bolaños, Logistics.
» Juan Diego Gahete, Equipment engineering.
» Reda El Otmani and Manuel Pérez, Equipment purchasing.
Finally, the idea for a solution arose which made it possi-
ble to put all the pieces into one single piece of equipment i.e.
a standard semi-trailer, thus obtaining the lowest cost for the
delivery cycle. This alternative was not risk-free. For example,
the height over the ground of only 30 cm, a very tight distan-
ce between the pieces and equipment, limiting the mooring
system…but which the supplier and Equipment engineering
of Alestis managed to minimise through cooperation.
In short, it was possible to bring together the require-
ments of logistics, of the users in Puerto Real, both of equi-
pment and of the product, the loading outside the plant and
the customer’s industrial requirements.
THE IDEA FOR A SOLUTION AROSE WHICH MADE IT POSSIBLE TO PUT ALL THE PIECES INTO ONE SINGLE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT
vo diseño paso a paso.

ENTREVISTA | INTERVIEW
15
THIS PROJECT IS A RESULT OF GREAT TEAMWORK WITH A CLEAR COMMITMENT TO ONGOING IMPROVEMENT
In addition, the success lies in reaching delivering the
V1000 in line with the deadlines, a milestone which was
achieved as a result of the support and constant drive of the
programme manager, Carlos Domínguez, and of the mana-
ger of Puerto Real, Rafael Navarro.
After a long journey which was not free of difficulties,
we can proudly say that the success of this project is a re-
sult of great teamwork with a clear commitment to ongoing
improvement: together Equipment Engineering, Plant Engi-
neering, Lean Manufacturing and Logistics have managed to
optimise the delivery process of the large structures of the
BF of the A350 XWB, allowing the ugly duckling to now shine
as the swan of our transport equipment.
Juan Diego Gahete, Industrial Resources Engineering
Manager, explains some of the additional details of this
project which culminated with the delivery to Saint Nazaire
of the first structure of the BF of the A350 XWB v1000 on 24
September 2015.
» What was the trigger for considering a change in the
form of transport used up to that point? Apart from the cost
of sending two special transports to Saint Nazaire and the
driving restrictions for this type of transport, it was neces-
sary to move the truck into the plant to unload the contai-
ners with the bridge crane. The manoeuvre was complex as
it was necessary to use two synchronised bridge cranes due
to the weight and volume. This involved risk, resources and
space in the plant for storing and loading the containers.
Both users and customers were not satisfied with the ope-
rations of these containers, as well as the frequent break-
downs of the opening systems.
» As the person responsible for supervising the project,
could you explain to us what proposals were presented su-
ppliers to get the project off the ground? The first propo-
sal was a brainstorming session with no other requirement
than to think of the type of trailer to transport the aeros-
tructures from Cádiz to Saint Nazaire. The company that
presented the preferred proposal was Prodymec, a design
which included the participation of VECA (manufacturer of
the structure and responsible for registration) in the part of
the systems of lighting, brakes and suspension and Electro-
mecánica Vázquez, in the part of automation and safety in
opening the sides and roof. Finally, we chose a semi-trailer
because this was the best option for the future from a tech-
nical point of view as it made it possible to take the Belly Fai-
ring of the A350 XWB in a normal transport vehicle without
any type of supplementary help.
» What type of obstacles did you have to face to de-
velop this semi-trailer? Firstly, as this was a totally new
vehicle, we needed the certification of the Ministry of In-
dustry and Tourism. Secondly, the development of a project
of this size required time and, thirdly, we needed to adapt
standard elements of the automotive industry to the pro-
ject: suspension, axle assembly, lights, brakes, ABS etc. In
Alestis we developed the project of the new design step by
step. Following three months of conceptual analyses, over
the approved model we had to make certain changes to the
concept as a result of collisions and an increase in opera-
ting safety following a thorough study of the start-up of the
new vehicle.
» After achieving this important milestone, what would
you highlight after so many months of work? The delivery
of this first semi-trailer for the transport of the first BF of
the V1000 of the A350 XWB, in parallel with the delivery of
the platforms, involved a very significant effort for those
working on it, both in the design and in the execution and
certification stage. We would like to give our thanks for the
great effort made by all the people who have participated
actively in this project and who have made it possible.

¿QUÉ HACEMOS? | WHAT ARE WE DOING?
ventivas sean intuitivas e instintivas consiguiendo sensibi-
19
The ‘Together for Prevention’ campaign was implemen-
ted at the end of 2014. This campaign was organised by
the company’s Prevention Department in order to rai-
se awareness with managers and employees of their
own safety, that of their colleagues and the responsi-
bilities which they have in performing their tasks, en-
couraging them all to undergo a change in attitude and
more active behaviour with regard to occupational sa-
fety. Together for Prevention also wanted to motivate
employees to:
» Not only think about themselves and their own safety,
but also to be equally concerned about the safety of
their colleagues and also to allow their colleagues to
ensure their safety.
» Get involved and provide corrective measures to help
improve their work conditions.
The aims of this campaign were:
» For all the staff in the different workplaces to consider
safety as an intrinsic part of the work and given that
safety affects us all and is the responsibility of every-
body, then everybody should get involved.
» To act on behaviour and to strengthen staff involve-
ment in compliance and ensuring compliance with
health and safety rules.
The key objective to be achieved was for preventive atti-
tudes to be intuitive and instinctive, thus raising awareness
of the employees of active behaviour in occupational risk
prevention, moving forward in the integration of occupa-
tional risk prevention at all levels and knowing and taking
on responsibilities adopted in prevention relating to oneself
and to others.
Based on these premises, lines of work (programmes,
sections, tasks) were chosen in each one of the company’s
production centres and a series of workshops and meetings
were organised.
The first of these meetings saw the presentation of the
start of the campaign and the operating dynamic in which
the participation of employees was requested for setting
up a multidisciplinary working group which would act as
spokesperson for all the ideas collected from the other co-
lleagues and which would participate in selecting the deve-
lopments made in the successive meetings.
The employees themselves elected the colleagues who
would participate in the remaining meetings for those in
which the participation of all employees was not viable due
to numbers.
In the second stage of the campaign, the idea was that
the selected employees, with prevention officers, mana-

¿QUÉ HACEMOS? | WHAT ARE WE DOING?

gers, the Prevention Department and the management,
would come together with the proposals for all the risks
now existing in the activity performed. From all the risks
placed on the table those which were real and might affect
the employees’ health were agreed by all the participants.
From this second stage, the participants came out with a
list of problems which needed to be reflected on in order to
reach the third stage (the most difficult stage) with all the
proposals for solutions to these problems.
In the third stage, the participants justified their propo-
sals and together agreed the most effective ones to be sub-
ject to a schedule for resolution to be overseen by all the
workplaces according to the established mechanisms.
The success of the campaign exceeded all expectations
and the employees actively participated in providing solu-
tions and they have seen how the proposals arising from
their work have been put into place.
The first campaign, which began in November-Decem-
ber 2014, was completed in March 2015 with the definition
of all the proposed corrective actions and their schedule for
resolution.
At the end of March 2015, 53% of the proposed correc-
tive actions led to the problems being resolved, 25% were
in progress (being executed) and 22% were outstanding be-
cause they needed more time, greater investment or more
defined studies.
Some of the proposals arising from this campaign which
have been executed are as follows:
» Inclusion of height-adjustable trolleys eliminating the
fixed trolleys which required adoption of forced postures.
» Change of tools for others which are more ergonomic,
lighter and with fewer vibrations.
» Acquisition of height-adjustable workbenches to
change the height of the workplace to match the em-
ployee’s characteristics.
» Remodelling of the passageways to equipment and
installations in order to prevent falls from heights in
the accesses.
» Specific lights have been provided (without cable
and LED strips) to improve the lighting in speci-
fic points of difficult access. At the same time, LED
strips have been included in work platforms in which
the actual geometry of the platform minimises the
lighting conditions in certain operations, improving
the quality of the work performed in addition to the
work conditions.
» Improvements in accesses to working areas with gua-
rantees of safety and prevention of falls from height
with fixed and not mobile hand rails, as well as an in-
crease in the work platform.
» Remodelling of the storage places for chemical pro-
ducts of ongoing use in the installations.
This has led us to continue working with other lines or
sectors as we have obtained excellent results, major impro-
vements and great ideas provided by all those people who
are committed day by day to their tasks so that everything
takes place with no risk.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank every-
body for their work and dedication in improving the working
conditions of our installations and to encourage you to con-
tinue participating actively in everything relating to elimina-
ting risks from our jobs.
We continue working TOGETHER FOR PREVENTION!

¿QUÉ HACEMOS? | WHAT ARE WE DOING?
LA FUERZA DEL ESPÍRITU DE MEJORA CONTINUA Y EL TRABAJO EN EQUIPO | THE STRENGTH OF THE SPIRIT OF ONGOING IMPROVEMENT AND TEAMWORK

This year we are experiencing one of the most important
challenges faced by this business: the ramp-up of the
A350 XWB. This requires all of us to give the best of our-
selves and to act every day with the greatest professiona-
lism and effectiveness.
The daily bustle often prevents us from having a over-
view of the programmes beyond the facts which are occu-
rring at that particular time, and it is particularly at that time
when the capacity to search for those small improvements
is most valuable as over time these little steps add up to a
major advance.
An example of good practice in this regard is our line ma-
nager Manolo Muñoz. The daily concern which he shows for
the growth and improvement of the whole team has been
the necessary spark to ensure that the programme conti-
nues to meet the customer’s expectations.
This concern, followed by his own initiative, has meant
that the team has been able to obtain small successes
which together contribute to the enormous achievement of
quadrupling production in less than one year and maintai-
ning the deliveries in accordance with the stringent needs
of the FAL.
An example of the improvements which are being achie-
ved based on a great deal of effort, imagination and little
investment are those listed below:
» Station 1: Used of the vertical fixed drill instead of an-
gle drills leading to savings in bits.
» Station 2: Change of the assembly process of the la-
teral panels from station 5A to STA 2. Improvement in
visibility and access have led to a fall in HNC and con-
cessions, as well as costs incurred.
» Station 3: Improvement in the method for loading the
CFRP structure on the assembly platform, eliminating
the bridge crane and using a truck.
» Station 4: Decoupling of the process of final drilling
of the APU fittings with the aircraft assembly process
in the platform of station 4, thus eliminating a bott-
le-neck and gaining 5 days’ lead time.

información y mejora, S Seguridad, Q Calidad, C Coste, D Entre-
demos lograr nuestras metas.

Following with our implementation of the AMES system,
and in accordance with our pillars of Excellence in mana-
gement, processes, people and innovation, in 2015 all of
Alestis has participated in training in PPS (practical pro-
blem solving) visual management boards and in 5S’s, the
Japanese technique for standardisation, waste elimina-
tion, tidiness and cleanliness in our workplaces.
For this training, Alestis has joined together with the
consulting firm Ernst & Young with the instructors Jesus
Montoliu and Juan Carlos Basallote, who have shown their
enthusiasm for sharing experiences and learning together
with Alestis employees.
Management using Boards is a system that will help
those in our value chains in aligning our efforts with the
Company’s objectives, the fruit of our Hoshin Kanri, i.e., our
strategic planning, our annual operating plan, the AMES im-
plementation plan and day by day, based on the categories
into which our information and improvement boards are di-
vided: S Safety, Q Quality, D Delivery and P People, as well
as their usefulness for sharing information, communication
and consolidation of work teams and the PPS tool for effec-
tive problem solving.
We would like to offer our thanks for the support given
in the organisation for the development of these training
sessions, your interest, attendance and the development in
general of the tools for improving our capacities and com-
petencies within each area. That is why our goal has been to
train all the staff, both in the plants and in the central offi-
ces, and the support teams in Getafe and external teams.
This knowledge and work systems, 5S’s, management
boards and PPS, are essential assets within our improve-
ment scheme, and we therefore invite each person in Alestis
to follow them and use them and to cooperate in the impro-
vements which we identify to enhance these systems, and
together we will achieve better standards of efficiency and
achievement of objectives.
These new tools and knowledge belong to everybody
and we are striving for the cooperation of each person to
achieve excellence in their implementation. We can only
achieve our goals as a team.

rentabilidad. Para cualquier duda podéis localizarme en

AENOR AUDIT.
Last September, in the context of the AENOR audit, the
FAST Programme was analysed, specifically the section
on ongoing processes and projects, with regard to which
we received the congratulations of the audit team for the
work performed at the level of projects, highlighting that
‘the system is maintained effectively implemented in ac-
cordance with the standard requirements’.
As part of the recovery plan which has already begun,
the organisation has started up a large number of impro-
vement actions at all organisational levels, which are alre-
ady producing positive results. These actions are framed
within the FAST Programme and the AMES plan. The audit
conclusions reflect a very positive rating with regard to
the quantity and manner in which the FAST/AMES projects
are being developed in order to roll out the Company’s
Strategic Plan.
PROJECT MANAGER TRAINING.
Another significant milestone that we have completed
in the FAST Project Management Office is the successful
conclusion of the Project Management Training.
Project Management is a methodology applied by an
enormous number of organisations worldwide to perform a
wide range of project types.
The FAST PMO in Alestis promotes the use of this me-
thodology for developing ongoing improvement projects
and achieving savings in which professionals from different
areas participate.
The aims of this training course are as follows:
» To provide students with a full vision of Project Ma-
nagement for subsequent integration in the teams of
the different projects, as well as to show them the
use of existing Alestis procedures.
» To strengthen the activity of the PMO in Alestis with
regard to project leaders.
The FAST PMO will continue promoting the training and
use of these methodologies for project management in 2016.
MITIGATION PLAN.
The last edition of this magazine noted that as from the
FAST Rollout carried out in June, opportunities would be
taken which will help us to mitigate the possible risks en-
visaged for 2016.
The Department has been operating for over one year
and the graph shows how the 2015 results have improved on
those achieved in the previous year due to the effort made by
the entire organisation through the FAST Programme. Howe-
ver, this effort has not been sufficient and we are therefore
working together with other colleagues from all the plants
in launching the Mitigation Plan. This plan establishes the
opportunities gathered in the rollouts performed during this
year in each one of the plants. The work on these opportuni-
ties, together with the new initiatives which have arisen, will
allow the results of Alestis Aerospace to improve and for it to
be viable to achieve the goals proposed for successive years.
I encourage you to continue generating projects and im-
prove profitability. For any questions you can reach me at

‘All of us to a certain extent have some challenge in mind.
Sometimes alone, other times in the company of good
friends, experienced and also inexperienced people. In
this case I concocted a project to climb the ‘Zulú Demente’
route, which was set up in 1983 and is characterised by its
continuous drop and being over 250 m high’.
Thus began the first challenge proposed by Montes Solida-
rios a project created with one single objective, that of helping
disabled people so that, although it may seem paradoxical, they
can show us all their ‘tremendous capacities’, fighting every day
to eliminate the barriers which they face in our society.
Jesús María Vázquez Peciña, a colleague who works as
an operator in Vitoria, in the Fittings section is the promo-
ter and brains behind this adventure who began to win over
one of the greats, one of the Spanish climbers best known
around the world, Adolfo Madinabeitia. The objective con-

tero, Adolfo Madinabeitia.
sisted of together taking Edorta de Anta, who’s been in a
wheelchair for nine years as a result of an occupational ac-
cident, up to the top of the Mallos de Riglos. To this end, the
main priority that the team had was for ‘our protagonist to
reach that point physically and mentally intact’.
Yosu explains to us that ‘the challenge included such di-
fficult tasks as preparing a special chair for Edorta to sit on
and take it to the base of La Visera; the first step of a great
adventure which also made it necessary to customise a ‘Ju-
maring device’ for Edorta (used to climb the rope with the
help of carabiners) as we intended. I have often tried to put
myself in the shoes of a person such as he is, in a wheel-
chair, and found myself ‘unable’ to look after myself in or-
der to meet the challenge which we were undertaking. The
mountain made us part of its environment, forcing us to de-
velop a sense of personal improvement with no setbacks’.

EL REPORTAJE | THE REPORT
‘FLYING’ ON THE CLIMB.
‘I have had a passion for climbing since I was a child, when I
used to escape to the mountains with my friends’, however,
the verb ‘to fly’ has very different meanings when applied to
his favourite sport or when relating to the world of aircraft.
‘We say ‘we have flown’ on the climb when you fall and the
rope runs until the last secure anchor that you have put in
the wall stops you. While personally I love ‘flying’, but sitting
in a plane, on a trip, and not forced as a result of a fall’.
‘Consequently, for personal milestones such as that
which we achieved, we didn’t only need to be at the top of
our game physically and mentally, but I also had to coordi-
nate everything from the start. It has allowed me to see that
I can achieve many more complicated things than I believed
myself able to do’.
THE CHALLENGE.
‘With a good team, good planning and enthusiasm, objecti-
ves which initially seem impossible can be achieved, and the
difficult ones become easier. That is why it is very important
to have the necessary people with suitable training, the ri-
ght material and a great deal of motivation to overcome this
difficult challenge’.
So, given this panorama and the physical preparation re-
quired, which Edorta never lacked, who dares to undertake
an adventure?

CONCURSO CHRISTMAS 2015: DIBUJA TU NAVIDAD | 2015 CHRISTMAS COMPETITION: DRAW YOUR CHRISTMAS
No
In November we opened the competition for Alestis em-
ployees and their families to propose a design for a Christ-
mas card related to the values of this holiday period, as
well as to the philosophy which inspires our company.
There were no restrictions to the design technique and the
imagination of our participants has flown far above what
we expected.
In view of the quantity of proposals received, we are im-
pressed by the talent, both of children and of adults, and the
creativity shown in their work. It has not been easy to decide
on the winning card in each category and we thank you all
for your participation.
The Winner of the under 12 category is Enrique Marqués
Robles and the winner of the over 13 category is Francisco
Delgado Peralta.
