JTAN February Newsletter 2017
The JTAN committee would like to thank every school who participated in the Manga Competition
last year. The Stage 4 students entered wonderful manga works, making the task of judging very
difficult. Unfortunately, there were no entries submitted for the Stage 3 Division, so we look forward to
seeing increased participation from primary school students in our 2017 competition.
We were pleased to see that every single entry was unique and represented the students’ characters.
Although it was difficult to elect only 5 awardees, we would like to congratulate every participant on
their effort and creativity. It was a pity to see some brilliant artworks not fitting the theme of ‘Family
Life’ clearly enough, and we urge teachers to guide their students to follow the judging criteria closely
for future competitions.
We are pleased to announce the following 2016 Manga Competition awardees:
The Certificates of Commendation were awarded to the following 10 students to acknowledge their
fantastic works:
CHEN, Sherry North Sydney Girls High School
CHELVAN, Angela Strathfield Girls High School
DAI, Lina Fort Street High School
GUO, Tandi North Sydney Girls High School
HE, Yuanquiu SCECGS Redlands
MCINTOSH, Jessica St Ursula’s College
PARKINSON, Tiarna Caroline Chisholm College
TAN, Amy Merewether High School
WIDJAJA, Jasmine Olivia Pymble Ladies’ College
WU, Jingu North Sydney Girls High School
The Excellence Awards were awarded to the following 5 entries to acknowledge their outstanding
artworks which demonstrated fluid storytelling and originality. Each winning composition will also
receive a $50 VISA debit card.
We thank you once again for allowing your students to participate in our competition and look forward
to future entries in upcoming events.
Kind Regards,
2016-2017 JTAN Committee
