Welcome to Jordan University of Science and Technology!
Message from the President
Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) is a distinguished academic and research
institution, dedicated to providing students with an engaging learning environment and a
supportive campus culture. We, at JUST, are one extended family that nurtures diversity, respect,
and creativity, and thus are honored to see you joining our university family!
Our university is a flourishing academic institution, comprehensively offering top-quality
education in all fields of science and technology. JUST offers 143 undergraduate and graduate
(MSc and PhD) degrees through its fifteen faculties and institutes. More than 23,000 students
are currently enrolled at JUST, with nearly %60 of these being females. International students
comprise approximately %15 of our students, proudly making JUST the most culturally diverse
higher education institution in Jordan.

Our state-of-the-art facilities and resources for teaching,
research, sports, and recreational activities are among the best
in the region. The campus at JUST is a blend of contemporary
art of architecture with vast green landscapes, creating the
proper environment for students and staff to excel in their
work. Nevertheless, JUST is always steadfast on improving all

Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) is a comprehensive, state-supported university located on the outskirts of Irbid, in Northern Jordan, 70 km north of Amman, the capital city of Jordan. JUST was established in 1986 as an autonomous national institute of higher education with the main objective of producing outstanding professionals in specializations that match the needs of Jordan and the region. Since its establishment, JUST has been at the forefront of higher education in the Arab world. It also maintains a high reputation among the Middle Eastern universities due to its faculty and administrative staff, multi-disciplinary educational systems, and broad diversity of students. The university was described as the “best scientific institution in the Kingdom” by King Abdullah II, and it was ranked as the top university in Jordan for the years 2016 through 2018, according to the Times Higher Education World University Ranking. JUST is considered today as one of the region’s leading universities in teaching and research. The number of students has increased significantly since the university’s establishment. Today JUST has more than 1000 full-time faculty members, with approximately 23,000 undergraduate and 2500 graduate students, in comparison with 2,300 students in the 1987/1986 academic year. Almost %15 of students enrolled at JUST are international students representing 50 countries and comprising the largest diverse student body in Jordan. The university provides a wide range of advanced degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, many of them are not offered by any other Jordanian university. At the present time, the university comprises 15 faculties (Medicine, Engineering, Science & Arts, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, Architecture, Information Technology, Applied Sciences, Nursing, and Graduate Studies), Deanship of Research, Deanship of Students Affairs, in addition to the newly established Nanotechnology Institute. 45 undergraduate programs and 98 postgraduate programs are offered. These programs are constantly reviewed to improve their quality and to ensure that the students are always updated with the latest scientific skills and knowledge. All departments, faculties, and service units are working together to ensure that the education we offer is both supportive and rewarding.

Nanotechnology has started to make a big footprint in the global economic market. Nanotechnology is the study of the material handling and control at the atomic level and molecular dimensions of ultrafine to make optimal use of their properties. It is an area that has developed innovative solutions to the 21st century challenges including alternative energy, incurable diseases and water pollution, by naturally blending various skill sets from biological, medical, chemical and engineering. Then, to implement the Royal vision on the promotion of scientific knowledge and investment in cutting-edge entrepreneurial fields, including the field of pioneering nanotechnology, JUST established, the first of its kind in Jordan, the Nanotechnology Institute in 2016. This unique institute, through the Royal Initiative for Nano innovative projects, is equipped with the state-of-the-art laboratories and offering Master’s degree in Nano engineering and nanoscience. Furthermore, this institute is considered as an incubator for entrepreneurship promoting start-up companies as well as qualifying trained experts and leaders in the interdisciplinary field of nanotechnology to keep abreast of the latest scientific developments in this field which ultimately will contribute to meet the challenges of the century.

International Relations Office
The internationalization strategy of Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) is performed and monitored through the International Relations Office.Internationalization serves as a major accelerating factor for tertiary institutions seeking world class status. JUST has recognized through its strategic goals that internationalization is a major tool of equipping its students and consequently the local labor force with the necessary skills for international competiveness in the age of globalization.
JUST has close collaborations with over 250 Higher Education Institutions and Research Centers representing 53 Countries all over the world including; North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania.
The Erasmus + International Credit Mobility program offers staff and students at JUST the opportunity to enhance their skills and global competitiveness through experiencing different cultural environment, which consequently would improve their employability and transversal skills.Our mobility programs are coordinated by the office along with a number of European countries including; United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain, Greece, Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Turkey.

Library
Academic libraries are engines of scientific research that provide information resources and related services to staff and students, the strategic plan of JUST library includes the vision of being always distinguished in terms of resources and services and of being a leading core source of cultural and scientific knowledge and thought at the national and regional levels.JUST Library avails access to a tremendous collection of printed and electronic materials in all branches of knowledge. Library collections include 195,000 printed books and 50,000 volumes of back issues of scientific journals that cover all fields of knowledge. Moreover, the library has active subscriptions to around 433,000 eBooks, and has access to 86 databases including about 103,000 electronic journals in full text. All databases and library materials are available to students and faculty members at the university for free. Library users can access these resources by making use of Summon, which is one unified and comprehensive index that avails an effective search in all library resources. They can access these resources from inside or outside the university through the Library official website http://www.just.edu.jo/library.

Beside the free access computer labs equipped with 200 advanced computers, the full coverage of wireless internet service at the library building allows users to access these resources through their own laptops, iPads/Tablets and smartphones. The library avails the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system which is a circulation/return self-service enabling users to borrow and return library materials automatically and independently. The library also has the Digital Library Assistant (DLA) tool, which is employed to arrange and reshelf books. This device is also used for weeding purposes and searching for missing books.Using the Document Delivery System (DDS) service, the electronic department staff in the library responds within 24 hours by email to researcher’s requests for softcopies of published research articles. Furthermore, library users can borrow any library material via the Inter-Library Loan (ILL) service from Jordanian public university libraries.The library building is about 12,500 square meters, an area that hosts around 2500 seated library users simultaneously and up to 500,000 printed materials.

Deanship Of Student AffairsThe Deanship of Student Affairs at JUST was established in September 1986 to complement the academic mission by promoting and preparing the students for entrepreneurship, leadership, and lifelong learning. The deanship works collaboratively with the students to accomplish significant contribution to the neighboring community as well as the society via voluntary work in an attempt to extend the student services beyond the classroom. This duty is accomplished by sponsoring different non-academic programs that foster academic success and promote students’ talents, abilities, hobbies, and skills.
This department is responsible for the students’ union, clubs, and all the cultural, social, and artistic activities. Its responsibilities include: • Stimulating and encouraging the development of hobbies among students. • Developing and encouraging artistic talents and appreciation of arts among the students. • Encouraging students to participate in the Jordanian, Arabic and Islamic culture and folk activities. • Encouraging creative work among students. • Promoting special activities and interests among students. • Promoting an open atmosphere for positive discussion. • Opening discussion channels between the administration and the students as well as between the students and the local community. • Organizing field trips inside Jordan and cultural trips inside and outside Jordan.
Athletic Activities department submits services and facilities that help the social university to set up positive relations by giving opportunity to the students, faculty, and administrative staff to practice on a different kind of sports games with qualified trainers, forming and preparing sport teams technically to participate within different kinds of sports competitions, local, regional and international, and interacting with the local community and Jordanian in general through making common sport activities with give them chance to use the sport facilities.The department is equipped with an olympic–sized swimming pool, fitness center, sauna and steam rooms, two squash courts, and a variety of sports fields.
This department affords students with the necessary services on and/or off-campus in the areas of financial aid, advising, and orientation. The department provides low-income students with interest-free loans to be paid back after graduation, scholarships to honors students, emergency loans to students when needed, and work-study opportunities. Also, the department keeps personal records and information regarding students, and issues/renewals of student identification cards.

The department of King Abdullah II Fund for Development was established in 2003 to provide students with professional advice and technical consultation in communication skills and job search. The mechanism of work is based on providing a database concerning the market needs of human resources and matching students training on communication skills with the actual needs of the market, as a fundamental requirement to synchronize the output of the educational system with the needs of the labor market. The office also works to enhance professional ethics and values, help students obtain permanent jobs after graduation, or part-time jobs during university study and link the university student community with the activities of the private sector and the civil society.
The primary goal of the International Student’s Office is to attract international students to JUST and ensure that they are appropriately welcomed and supported at JUST. The office provides a full range of consultation services including accommodation, cultural, social and legal services, in addition to organizing trips, social events, and meetings with the president.
The University has created what is considered to be an ideal atmosphere for academic progress. The most significant component of this atmosphere is the on-campus residence for female students. The University offers an engaging and intellectually stimulating multicultural setting where female students, from different cultures, network and bond. The Housing Department includes 10 buildings with various models and prices to meet all wishes.

International Students OfficeJUST realized that international students have special issues and concerns other than those of local students. For that, The International Student’s Office (ISO), was established inside the University campus. It is the first place for international students to contact for information and support. The ISO is primarily tasked with attracting international students to JUST and ensuring that they are appropriately welcomed and supported at JUST. Qualified coordinators and students’ affairs staff are available at the office to provide full range of consultation services including: accommodation, cultural, social and legal services, in addition to organizing trips, social events, and meetings with the President. JUST values and encourages the University’s mix of Jordanian and international students to create a positive learning environment. In addition to this, the ISO helps the students to celebrate their national occasions and events, such as independence days. King Abdullah University Hospital (KAUH) is the largest medical facility in the North of Jordan, serving approximately one million inhabitants from the Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash, and Mafraq governorates. KAUH is one of the most prominent and reputable non-profit tertiary hospitals in Jordan and the region. KAUH provides various clinical and referral healthcare services to other healthcare sectors in Jordan. KAUH is a university hospital where all JUST health science students receive their education and training. The hospital is staffed with full-time physicians who are faculty members of the JUST Faculty of Medicine, in addition to many others from the Ministry of Health, and the Royal Medical Services (RMS). The hospital has a bed capacity of approximately 700, which can be increased to 800 beds in emergency situations. KAUH offers a state-of-the art technology, as well as the latest advances in diagnoses and treatment, in addition to its outstanding team of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and physical therapists.
KAUH is currently establishing a regional radiotherapy center equipped with the most recent and advanced technologies of radiotherapy for specific medical indications. The center is the first of its kind in Jordan and the Middle East.

Irbid, anciently known as Arabella, is Jordan’s 2nd largest city located about 85 km (53 miles) north of Amman, situated at an equal distance from Pella and Umm Qais. Artifacts and graves in the area show that Irbid has been inhabited since the Bronze Age. Pieces of pottery and wall stones found at Tell Irbid were estimated to be made in 3200 BC. In the Hellenistic period, Irbid, then known as Arabella, was a major trade center. Ancient civilizations had left behind in Irbid Governorate multiple archeological and historical sites, where Greek-Roman cities had been established.Irbid Governorate is considered as the number one agricultural region in Jordan, especially in cultivating citrus, olive, cereals, and producing honey. Cultivable land in the Governorate makes about (%70) of the total area of the Governorate, and (%13.5) of the total cultivable land in Jordan. Irbid is uniquely characterized by the availability of social, cultural and youth services, and the construction development. It includes 9 counties and 18 municipalities. Governorate’s population is 1,770,158 inhabitants, in an area of 1571.8 km2.The Governorate’s climate is considered one of the best climates in the world, where there is a green valley, which forms a comprehensive winter-time resort, mountains with all year round vegetation, fertile plains, and the availability of underground water. It is considered a diverse climate, with great potentials for investment projects in tourism.Irbid has four universities in the Governorate, two of which are governmental; Yarmouk University, Jordan University of Science & Technology, and two private universities; Irbid National University, and Jadara University. Furthermore, three industrial estates are within its premises; Cyber City, Al Maabar City, and Al-Hassan Industrial Estates.
