The Jiaozhuo Bay Bridge is the

worlds longest roadway

bridge over water.

The bridge has a width of 115

feet and length of 87,621 feet(

41.58 kilometers ).

The bridge is a triple-ended

bridge.

The bridge connects the

eastern coastal city

Quigdao to the suburb of

Huangdao island.

The Jiaozhou Bridge cost

$10 billion yuan ( 1.5 billion

U.S dollars )

The bridge took almost 4

years to build .

The bridge is supported by

more than 5,000 pillars.

The bridge was designed

by Shandong Gaosu

Group.

Construction of the bridge

began in late 2007 and was

finished in early 2011.

The bridge opened on June

30, 2011 .

The bridge employed at least 10,000 people.

No one died during the construction of the bridge.

The construction used 450,000 tons of steel and 2.3 million cubic meters (81×106 cu ft) of concrete.

Concerns regarding the bridge's safety were raised when Chinese media reported that the bridge was opened with faulty elements, such as incomplete crash-barriers, missing lighting rods and loose nuts on guard-rails, with workers stating that it would take two months before finishing all of the projects related to the bridge.
