Project DescriptionWorking with Zimmer Biomet, we are redesigning thehumeral stem inserter used in the Comprehensivetotal shoulder replacement system. This is the pieceused to help insert the artificial stem into thehumerus. While the current device does not causeany patient harm, it is difficult to use for orthopedicsurgeons. Through this project, we will focus onimproving the need for tighter tolerances, betterconnection between the inserter and stem, andimproving the overall lifespan of the inserter.
