RogerL.McCoy,M.D.,hasbeenpartof theD-backs’familysincetheorganization’sstart-up,workingwiththeminorleaguerspriortotheopeningof the1998MajorLeagueseason.HeisaBoardCertifiedFamilyPhysicianwithspecialtraininginsportsmedicine.AftergraduatingfromMiamiUniversityinOxford,Ohio,hereceivedhismaster’sdegreeinanatomyaswellashismedicaldegreefromWrightStateUniversityinDayton,Ohio.WhilecompletinghisfamilypracticeresidencyinToledo,heservedasateamphysicianfortheUniversityof Toledoandacoupleof localhighschoolsforthreeyears. RogerRileyisinhis12thseasonwiththeD-backsand19thseasoninMajorLeagueBaseball.HebeganhisD-backscareerastheDirector,TeamTravelinthewinterof 1997,thenaddingthedutiesof ClubhouseManagerpriortotheWorldSeriesseasonof 2001.Asif beingamemberof aWorldChampionshipteamwasn’tenough,hecappedthatyearbyearningthe2001TravelingSecretaryof theYearaward,asvotedbyhispeersinMajorLeagueBaseball.Asidefromhisregulardutiesontheroad,heassistsbaseballoperationswhentheneedsariseregardingplayertransac-tionsandcomputerwork. Rileydoesn’thavemuchof an“offseason”asevidencedbyhisdeparturefortheMLBclubhousemanagermeet-ingsjust72hoursaftertheD-backswontheWorldSeriestitlein2001.Hespendsthemajorityof thewintersigninghotelandcharteraircraftcontractsfortheupcomingyear.Astheseasoncommenceshearrangesforgroundtrans-portationineachcityandmakessurethehotelispreparedfortheteam’sarrivalwithroomkeysinhand,regardlessof thehour.Rileyalsohandlesplayerticketrequestsbothathomeandontheroad.

HisrolewiththeD-backsincludesworkontheschedule,andmakingsurethatgametimesbothathomeandontheroadarewithintheguidelinesof MajorLeagueBaseball.RileyalsoworksontheexhibitionschedulewithotherCactusLeagueclubsandcoordinatesthetravelplansforallplayersandstaff membersastheyprepareforthesix-weekstayinTucson. BaseballwasfarfromunchartedterritoryforRiley,whoplayedcollegeballattheUniversityof Kansas.Itwastherehebeganworkingasastatistician,andspent19yearswithavarietyof networktelevisionassignments,includingtheBowlChampionshipSeriestitlegameintheSugarBowlin2000.UponjoiningthePadresin1990,RileywastheAssistantDirectorof MediaRelations,thenfortwoseasonsworkedasboththeDirectorof MediaRelationsandtheTravelDirector.Hedepartedfromthemediachairafterthe1996seasonandcombinedhistravelresponsibilitieswithBaseballAdministration,workingwiththeGeneralManager. GrantTrenbeathhasmasteredgrowingandmaintainingnaturalgrass inaretractableroof environmentasheentershis12thseasonastheonlyHeadGroundskeeperatChaseField,thefirstMLBstadiumbuiltwiththatcom-bination.Trenbeathhasbeenapioneerinhandlinggrassinaretractableroof venueandhasservedasaconsultanttootherretractableroof venuesinMajorLeagueBaseball,sharinghisexpertiseonhowtobalancemaintaininganaestheticallypleasingandsafeplayingsurfacewiththeneedforfancomfort. RogerL.McCoy,M.D.,hasbeenpartof theD-backs’familysincetheorganization’sstart-up,workingwiththeminorleaguerspriortotheopeningof the1998MajorLeagueseason.HeisaBoardCertifiedFamilyPhysicianwithspecialtraininginsportsmedicine.AftergraduatingfromMiamiUniversityinOxford,Ohio,hereceivedhismaster’sdegreeinanatomyaswellashismedicaldegreefromWrightStateUniversityinDayton,Ohio.WhilecompletinghisfamilypracticeresidencyinToledo,heservedasateamphysicianfortheUniversityof Toledoandacoupleof localhighschoolsforthreeyears. Dr.McCoywashonoredastheSportsMedicineFellowatMichiganStateUniversitywhereheservedasteamphysicianandafacultymemberteachinganddevelopingcourseworkatthemedicalschool.Hewasmostrecentlyhonoredbybeingvotedoneof Phoenix’s“TopDocs”of 2006byPHOENIX Magazine. RogerRileyisinhis12thseasonwiththeD-backsand19thseasoninMajorLeagueBaseball.HebeganhisD-backscareerastheDirector,TeamTravelinthewinterof 1997,thenaddingthedutiesof ClubhouseManagerpriortotheWorldSeriesseasonof 2001.Asif beingamemberof aWorldChampionshipteamwasn’tenough,hecappedthatyearbyearningthe2001TravelingSecretaryof theYearaward,asvotedbyhispeersinMajorLeagueBaseball.Asidefromhisregulardutiesontheroad,heassistsbaseballoperationswhentheneedsariseregardingplayertransac-tionsandcomputerwork. Rileydoesn’thavemuchof an“offseason”asevidencedbyhisdeparturefortheMLBclubhousemanagermeet-ingsjust72hoursaftertheD-backswontheWorldSeriestitlein2001.Hespendsthemajorityof thewintersigninghotelandcharteraircraftcontractsfortheupcomingyear.Astheseasoncommenceshearrangesforgroundtrans-portationineachcityandmakessurethehotelispreparedfortheteam’sarrivalwithroomkeysinhand,regardlessof thehour.Rileyalsohandlesplayerticketrequestsbothathomeandontheroad.

HisrolewiththeD-backsincludesworkontheschedule,andmakingsurethatgametimesbothathomeandontheroadarewithintheguidelinesof MajorLeagueBaseball.RileyalsoworksontheexhibitionschedulewithotherCactusLeagueclubsandcoordinatesthetravelplansforallplayersandstaff membersastheyprepareforthesix-weekstayinTucson. BaseballwasfarfromunchartedterritoryforRiley,whoplayedcollegeballattheUniversityof Kansas.Itwastherehebeganworkingasastatistician,andspent19yearswithavarietyof networktelevisionassignments,includingtheBowlChampionshipSeriestitlegameintheSugarBowlin2000.UponjoiningthePadresin1990,RileywastheAssistantDirectorof MediaRelations,thenfortwoseasonsworkedasboththeDirectorof MediaRelationsandtheTravelDirector.Hedepartedfromthemediachairafterthe1996seasonandcombinedhistravelresponsibilitieswithBaseballAdministration,workingwiththeGeneralManager. Heandhiswife,Donna,havethreedaughters,Taylor,ShannonandAshley,andthreegrandsons,andmaketheirhomeinChandler.

ThisyearwillbeNateShaw’sfourthastheMajorLeaguestrengthandconditioningcoordinator.HejoinedtheD-backsbeforethe2006seasonafterathree-yearstintintheTampaBayDevilRaysorganization,thelasttwoastheminorleaguestrengthandconditioningcoordinator.HespenthisfirstseasonintheRays’chainastheirNewYorkPennLeagueathletictrainerandstrengthcoach.WhilewiththeDevilRays,Shawwasresponsibleforimplementingdatabasedresearchtofurtherdevelopprogramsandproceduresinaccordancewithinjurypreventionandperfor-manceenhancement.

Shawstartedhisworkinprofessionalsportsbyspendingtwoyears(2001-2002)withtheTorontoBlueJaysduringtheirspringtrainingsessioninDunedin,Fla.Healsoco-foundedtheGHFCSportsPerformanceProgram,imple-mentingallkeyfacetsof theoperationincludingmarketing,salesandprogramdesign. Shaw,34,graduatedfromtheUniversityof Floridain2001withaBachelorsDegreeinExerciseandSportSciences. Heandhiswife,Veronica,weremarriedthispastoffseason.Nate,VeronicaandhersonDakotamaketheirhomeinPhoenix.

GrantTrenbeathhasmasteredgrowingandmaintainingnaturalgrass inaretractableroof environmentasheentershis12thseasonastheonlyHeadGroundskeeperatChaseField,thefirstMLBstadiumbuiltwiththatcom-bination.Trenbeathhasbeenapioneerinhandlinggrassinaretractableroof venueandhasservedasaconsultanttootherretractableroof venuesinMajorLeagueBaseball,sharinghisexpertiseonhowtobalancemaintaininganaestheticallypleasingandsafeplayingsurfacewiththeneedforfancomfort. Trenbeath’scontinueddedicationtohiscrafthasnotgoneunnoticed.TheChaseFieldsurfacewasrankedamongplayersasthesecondbestintheNationalLeagueina2003pollcommissionedbySports Illustrated.In2006,hewasalsoacknowledgedforhiseffortswhenhewasselectedbytheTostitosFiestaBowlCommitteetoserveastheDirec-torof Groundsforthe36thannualTostitosFiestaBowlandthefirsteverTostitosBCSNationalChampionshipGameattheUniversityof PhoenixStadiuminGlendale. Trenbeathhasworkedinturf managementfor15years,spendingthreeseasonswiththeOaklandAthletics’mi-norleagueaffiliateinMedford,Ore.,thenjoiningtheA’sasheadgroundskeeperfortheirminorleaguecomplexandspringtrainingforthreeseasonsbeforejoiningtheD-backssevenmonthspriortotheirinauguralseason.
