GENERAL INFORMATION

For over 30 years. the Early Academic Outreach Program at UC Berkeley has helped high school students prepare for college by creating a commu-nity of young scholars and offering college preparatory academic enrich-ment opportunities. One of the exciting opportunities offered to EAOP students is the SAT Academy.

The SAT Academy is an eight-week SAT Test preparation course that takes place on Saturday mornings between January and March.

The SAT Academy is available to EAOP students in two different locations: UC Berkeley and Los Medanos College.

PROGRAM LOCATIONS

SAT Academy will be held in two different locations to better serve EAOP students. Below is a list of the two SAT Academy sites. Students will attend classes at the site assigned to their high school.

APPLICATION PROCESS

EAOP Juniors can apply to the SAT Academy by going to the website at eaop.berkeley.edu and filling out the online application. Students are expected to fill out the online application completely. Failure to do so may affect your chances of being selected for the program.

How do I apply for the SAT Academy?

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a current EAOP Junior

• Minimum 2.50 weighted GPA

• Have passed (with a C or better) or are currently enrolled in Algebra II/Advanced Algebra, Integrated Math 3, or equivalent course

SELECTION PROCESS

The EAOP staff will screen each application on the basis of the completed SAT Academy Application using a comprehensive review process. Selection will be based on an applications demonstrated level of scholarship in preparing for university work, as well as past participation in the EAOP Program.

How do I get selected for the SAT Academy?

What do I need to do?

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

Students are expected to arrive to all SAT Academy classes on time, attend all classes, complete all assignments, and conduct themselves according to the EAOP Student Expectations listed in the SAT Academy Student Handbook. Students who do not adhere to the expected policies will be subject to dis-missal at the discretion of the EAOP administration.

Notification of Admission: Students who apply by the deadline will be notified regarding admission in November.

Statement of Intent to Register: Students who are accepted to the SAT Academy will need to fill out a Statement of Intent to Register and other pertinent registration forms. Failure to return these forms on time may result in forfeiture of acceptance.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

Students may be dropped from SAT Academy if they are absent more than once; two tardies are equivalent to once absence. Attendance at all SAT Academy classes is mandatory.

Students are required to give the EAOP staff and SAT Academy Instructors advance notice of their absence if they are going to miss class.

How much does it cost?

PROGRAM FEES AND TRANSPORTATION

Students do not pay SAT program fees. Students are responsible for the cost of transportation and are expected to provide their own snacks.

SAT Academy Program Dates

PROGRAM SCHEDULE Students selected to be in the SAT Academy are expected to attend all classes. Classes are from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm. All participating students are required to take the March 14, 2020 SAT Test as part of the SAT Academy.
