CongratulationsRev.Fred!
Sunday, December 8 was a day of celebration at UUCA; not only was it Rev.
Fred’s birthday, but also a celebration of his 30th anniversary as senior minister.
Despite a grim weather forecast, a full-house was on hand as Fred donned a
‘celebration hat’ (courtesy of the Wonder Box) and listened to the heartfelt testi-
monies of several UUCA members; Geoff Eckert, Stephanie Alig, Russ Morris, and
Diane Goforth. There were also well-wishes from each of the interns, gathered and
read by Rev. Christina. Many members measure their time at UUCA “in interns”
(as in, “I became a member when so-and-so was the intern” or they can count how
long they’ve been attending by how many interns they remember), and it was easy
to hear each intern’s “voice” as Rev. Christina read aloud the comments they had
written for Rev. Fred. Of course, the morning would not have been complete
without a speech by the honoree himself, and there was not many a dry eye left in
the sanctuary as Fred thanked the members of
UUCA and his wife, Karen; without whom, he
said, his ministry would not be possible.
The celebration was rounded-out by a light
brunch, featuring a cake by Miss Nancy’s Fancy Bakery. Special
thanks to Dianne Moreau, for her organizational skills, and to the
generous food donations from members of the choir, the Tuesday
video discussion group, and others. Thanks also to those who
donated monetarily to help cover the cost of the cake and sand-
wiches.

BetsyJoAngebranndtHonored
Congratulations to Betsy Jo Angebranndt, long-time UUCA choir director
and Music Minister Emeritus, who was recently elected to the Unitarian Uni-
versalist Musicians Network (UUMN) Hall of Fame.
Betsy Jo has had choral works commissioned by UUMN, and published by
Beacon Press. Among her many other activities in this organization, she was
selected to conduct the UU Concert Choir for the 1991 General Assembly. She
was also Chair of the Editing Committee for ChoralResponses, a book of short
pieces for choirs which was published by UUMN.
