PL1 Mobility across borders

Focus on the main theme ITS beyond borders and its different aspects

PL2 Smart cities and future ports: what is the role of ITS?

Focus on benefits, barriers and ways forward deriving from the change of

relationship between ports and the cities

PL3 Cooperative, connected and automated mobility

Focus on new scenarios and key deployment challenges for technological

and regulatory issues, interoperability, cross-border operations and

cooperation between stakeholders.

Plenary sessions

No 10

1. Digital Infrastructure for cooperative,

connected and automated mobility

What is included in the definition of Digital Infrastructure,

taking into account the point of view and the role of different

stakeholders?

2. Next generation goods delivery

A radical rethink is needed on how to create a future-proof

and sustainable logistics system that no longer considers

people and freight transport separately.

Executive sessions (1)

No 11

3. Satellite Technologies applied to mobility

With the fusion of space and terrestrial sensor data

delivering a comprehensive picture of transport conditions

and environmental impacts, satellite technologies are no

longer unrealistic but affordable and reliable transport

services. How can we best use them ?

4. Transport network evolution

Digital networks complement the physical ones driving

delivery solutions based on Big or Open Data and

Information; we need to amend our planning and

management to acknowledge this transformation.

Executive sessions (2)

No 12

5. Mobility services – from transport to mobility

The new paradigm of Mobility as a Service poses

challenges for service provider, transport providers and

customers’ data management. Will the innovation required

come from incumbent operators or from start-ups?

6. ITS and the environment

Finding the right mix of policies, technological innovation,

behaviour and choices, to provide an efficient level of

mobility but in a more sustainable way.

rewarding schemes delivered via smartphone technologies”

by Bingyuan Huang and colleagues from the University of Twente Centre

for Transport Studies, the Netherlands

The judges said:

“An innovative look at a common deployment problem – measuring how

successful you have been. The paper reports on a study evaluating the potential

effectiveness of incentives for cycling and describes a rigorous scientific method

that could be applied in other sectors”.

Best Papers Award 1

No 15

The judges commented “We have two excellent examples of knowledge transfer in

action of equal high quality so we have made two awards for Best Technical Paper”

TP855 “Cross-modal challenges and opportunities in transport safety”

by Isabela Erdelean and Peter Saleh from the Austrian Institute of Technology

The judges said:

“This paper aimed at understanding the common challenges facing all transport modes in

order to provide better customer information, improved safety and security as well as

indicators of the technologies, methodologies and approaches that might help us reduce

energy consumption”.

TP785 “Traffic Management 2.0, Contractual agreements and Schemes”

by Tiffany Vlemmings from the Netherlands National Data Warehouse and

colleagues from 4 other Netherlands organisations The judges said:

“A comprehensive and well-written description of the TM 2.0 (Traffic Management 2.0)

innovation platform that is a mini-reference guide for both new and experienced users. A

paper of great practical benefit for suppliers, users and regulators”.

Why attend? • A focus on the emerging solutions for mobility in cities

• Hear the latest news on connected and highly automated vehicles

• A unique network opportunity: think of the 20 experts you would most like

to hear from or talk to and at least 17 of them will be in Strasbourg

• A mix of achievements, research and other work-in-progress, and

strategies. You’ll see and learn about what works but also experience

what the leading players are preparing for next year’s products and

services

• The European Commission and many national public authorities play

an extensive part in the Congress – hear from them and make

valuable contacts

• Congresses aren’t exclusively listening events: you can meet the

presenters and ask your questions
