Italian Pilots

• Local Authorities has been involved in a user group to participate the project requirement phase and presented their own projects for the piloting phase.

• Three cities selected (by now):– Avellino– Campobasso– Cremona

French Pilot• Local Authorities (both city authorities - with

the personal involvment of the major himself - and the regional council with the regional representative of the French Governement) have been deeply involved to participate to the french project requirement phase

Mérignac Pilot

• The chosen city for France is Mérignac in Aquitaine region - Department of Gironde.

• A specific project has been setup for the piloting phase in order to test E-poll system in real conditions with a voting bureau downtown located and representing 705 voters. The real election will be the legislative one in 2002.

Polish Pilot

• Municipium is the organisation involving all the Municipalities; there is a co-operation with City of Czestochowa in Silesia Region;

• The Polish Minister of Interior will collaborate in the pilot phase to investigate and simulate a consultation in Poland to test the system.

Identified Issues

The issues to widespread use of electronic votes can be summarised as follows:

• Legislation needs to be adapted.• Voters and Administrations need full confidence in the

voting process.• Security and reliability have to be guaranteed (linux os).• Current roles in the election process must be preserved.• High initial costs
