What is Race

• Race is the different colors of skin that people have throughout the world

What is Ethnicity

• It is the heritage of people. Where they come from and their customs, beliefs, and traditions

African Americans

• From the birthplace of human existence Africa

• The second most populated minority group in the United States

Asian Americans

• From Asia; in particular Japanese Americans

Latinos

• The largest minority group in the United States

• Consists of Mexicans and any person from Central Latin America

• It is the largest because Latino covers such a large range of different people

Caucasians

• The majority of the population in the U.S.

• Of European descent

Arab/Americans

• The fastest growing American minority

• From the Middle East

• Face tremendous persecution and bigotry since 9/11.

Indian/Americans

• From the country of India

• Many come to the United States for education

• A generous percentage of Indian/Americans are in the medical field

Framework of U.S. Society

• We are people from all over the world

• America is the land of freedom, which is why so many people have become Americans

• Everyone here has a right to the freedom our constitution requires
